Let's have swine, and track and field in the same pavilion. Uuummm, what were they thinking? Had none of the decision-makers ever been in a swine barn? Or downwind of a farm??

INDIANAPOLIS – Just in time for the Indiana State Fair, the new Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion is ready for business.

The facility underwent a $50 million, 18-month renovation project. Originally opened a century ago, the building known as the “Swine Barn” has hosted generations of Hoosiers and livestock events. It’s now a facility capable of hosting world-class livestock and track events.

“We need to come up with ANOTHER use for the building, something other than just a livestock barn”.

“Hey, how about we make it so they can have track and field events in there”?

“You know, that’s just crazy enough to work! Way to think outside the box”!

    Lol! WTF???

I've refereed plenty of hockey games at Pop Weaver, which is next to the swine barn and the plywood "locker rooms" essentially split the two spaces. When the the garage doors to the swine barn were open, the aroma at the rink was less than pleasant.

They have been running pig races for years. First one to the trough wins. Place your bets. Seems logical to build the track in the Swine Barn. Now the pigs go right from the show ring to the track. Double the entertainment!

    RIght on.

We always knew when the "Cattle Congress" was in town...the kids were very aware of the dual nature of the facility from an early age. :D
