I was able to pick up my lower yesterday, real easy and friendly staff.

Thanks VUPDBlue for putting a second GB together and allowing me to partake.

Is this the line/thread for the 1st or 2nd group buy? I may be the last person to get his lower. I know... fail...

My first AR and my first lower build. Just waiting on my upper to arrive from PSA.

That looks good so far. The color fill on the lower looks great! Looking forward to seeing it finished!

It'll be months before #98 gets finished, or even started. So I am living vicarioisly through everybody else's builds :ingo: [STRIKE][/STRIKE]

194 and 195 from the 2nd group buy. I picked them up at Bradis a few weeks ago. Nothing spectacular, but the 16" is my first scoped AR so it will be fun to get to a longer range and try that out. The pistol has a Griffin taper mount brake on the barrel just waiting for my Recce 7 to get out of jail. That will be used on the scoped rifle as well.

My upper arrived today. It's a very simple PSA upper with 18" SS barrel chambered in .223 Wylde with 1/7 twist and free float M-lok hand guard. It came with a BCG and I swapped out the standard charging handle with the BCM Mod 3 from another build.

Lower was built with a PSA enhanced MOE lpk, Magpug MOE fixed rifle stock and I splurged on my first good trigger, a Geissele SD-E.

Now all I need are some good iron sights and I'll be in business.

I know most iron sights will work just fine out to 300 yards as long as I do my part to properly zero and hold them steady. Is there anything else I should be looking for in a sight set I want to take out to 5-600 yards or more?

    How much adjustability is required?

My budget is $200 give or take, but I don't want to just slap some MBus Pros on there if there is something better I should be considering for longer range shooting.

The MBUS pros are really nice. If you want to have a bit more accuracy at ranges past 300 you could go for the USGI MATech rear site that has graduation for those ranges. I think it would work fine with the MBUS pro front, but could also be paired with just about any quality front flip with adjustable elevation sight post.

I'm leaning this way. Someone generously offered a nice price on this very sight. I think paired with a fixed front sight, I'd have a very solid starting point.

I have a set of Yankee Hill sights (front is flip). they seem sturdy and accurate. Maybe pickup a smaller front sight post for longer distances? ymmv

Honesty, I'd take that $200 and pick up a crossfire II 1-4x. They were $219 just a few days ago off amazon for the V-brite reticle. I have one and it's great for the money. Very clear glass. Then save up $60 and buy a PA mount to put it in.

That's actually a really good idea. It will work with a standard front sight post, but the peep is the smaller diameter, so a smaller front sight post would be a bit easier to use. I had one on a 20" DMR rifle that had a NM front sight post. I was minute of shaving cream can at 200yds with it a couple years back at LMW's Appleseed KD shoot.
