Official Misconduct, False Written Statement and Misapplication of Property Arrest

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on October 26, 2023, Investigators of the Steuben County Sheriff's Office arrested Scott R. Casterline, age 51, of Church Creek Road, Lindley, New York, following an investigation of an alleged deceased dog. It is alleged that Mr. Casterline, acting as a public servant, took another's property, a dog, sold that property and falsely reported the death of that dog. Investigators traced the sale to a location in Ohio, located the missing dog, retrieved and returned the dog to the rightful owner. Mr. Casterline was charged with Official Misconduct, Misapplication of Property, and False Written Statement. Mr. Casterline was released on an appearance ticket to appear in Lindley Town Court at a later date.
Sheriff Allard thanks the City of Corning Police Department for their assistance in this investigation and arrest.
