Been there, done that. Lunesta, Belsomra, Ambien, Restoril, Benedryl, CBD... Currently on Trazodone, which is hit or miss but better than the rest.

My next step? Therapy. Seriously. Any recommendations for a therapist/psychiatrist in the area?
None for a therapist but a shot of bourbon and a lunestra chaser will probably put you on the floor until dawn.

Anyone want to go to work for me?

Now that I think I'm going to retire, I don't even want to wait for next year.
Know that feeling well. In 2018, my wife and I figured out that I could afford to retire if I really wanted to. Since then, it has been on my mind a lot. It's a job that I no longer like and it really affects my approach to it. I have two brothers similar in age who are retired and they seem to be enjoying life. I almost quit several months ago but then returned to my senses and settled on a date in 2022 that makes more sense for healthcare considerations.

    that rough for her.
    :(
Having a baby would be stressful enough.
Or so I've heard. Never having had a baby myself.
According to some of the college professors who teach liberal arts classes it is now possible for men to menstrate (or is it manstraight?), get pregnant and have babies. You may want to give it a try?

I think who you want to see depends on the root cause of your insomnia, of which there can be many. If you haven't seen a specialist, maybe start with someone who advertises expertise in sleep issues and see where that leads you.

I can't recommend anyone in particular. From personal and family experience, I am a strong advocate of the healthcare teams at University of Chicago and Northwestern hospitals. If you can't find a good option locally, I would look there.

    Speaking of the Covid....

Next door neighbor was ready to have a baby. She was due on the 13th. Monday she wasn't feeling good, so she went to the hospital. They decided to keep her because she was getting close. Baby was born Tuesday.

Anyway....when she got to the hospital, they did a Covid test and told her she is positive. She's had zero symptoms. Mom, dad and baby came home yesterday. My wife saw them drive up and went to greet them and mom said stay away, I've got the Covid. I just talked to dad.......zero symptoms.
Everyone's reaction is different. Everyone I know has said their young child skates under the radar. Knock on wood, my kid is just inconvenienced with sick parents. Now, is that from precautions or science? 1st kid parents typically sterilize the environment as much as possible. Subsequent children typically see lesser conditions (baring extenuating circumstances).

I see a sleep specialist and he is baffled. In theory, the dose of stuff that I take should knock me out, but it doesn't faze me.

I do have a lot of physical issues. Not sure if I want to unearth the emotional ones or let sleeping dogs lie. Jury is still out on that one.

OMG we started watching All in the Family tonight. It's on IMdb (which I access through Amazon Prime). I forgot how funny and rude that show was. I was only 9 when it came out, so I didn't understand the politics and social issues. But 50 years later, they are still pretty much the same.

My Dad's two favorite shows were All in the Family and Sanford & Son. He would roar with laughter. They were both cutting edge for the time.

The Jefferson's was also a great spinoff from All in the Family.

Yeah, definitely cutting edge. Most of the stuff that Archie Bunker says would not fly now. Episode 1 was chock full of racial slurs.

Was just talking to a coworker today after finding out we both had rewatched Cheers on Netflix. Both hilarious, I'll have to figure out my Amazon prime stuff for Archie and Edith!
