    fwiw check out the ruger precision in 17hmr, less money and in my opinion at least, a better shooting gun. I love my savage but the ruger is niiiiicccce.
    I'll second the Ruger Precision, have one in 22lr and is probably the most shot gun I own. Have a Ruger American in 17hmr that is also seriously accurate against chipmunks out to 75yds.

    It is the accu-trigger, and it was fine right from the start. I never even adjusted it. In full disclosure, it started out with the black plastic stock, and I swapped it with the laminated one from a 17 HMR BVSS model, and then got a Boyd's stock for the 17 HMR.     One of the problems with the .17 hmr, my .22 suppressor is not rated for it.
