I bought a 1800's percussion rifle. The nipple threads are gone. How would you fix that.

    Hello,

Go to Dixie Gun Works Track of the Wolf (https://www.trackofthewolf.com/list/item.aspx/64/3). They should have nipples with oversized threads. Order a couple and the appropriate sized drill and tap.

Just go slow and do it right. Use plenty of lubricant (some use syrup; I use engine assembly lube with ZDDP.)

Please show it off when you get it fixed!

Edited: I could be blind, but I didn't see 'em at DGW any longer.

I don't think you're blind. They used to be at MBS also and I couldn't find them.

Are we talking left or right handed threaded nipples. I think it makes a huge difference when doing the helicopter.
