I spent this weekend down at the Atterbury range and put another 230 rounds through a Springfield 1911 I bought last month. That puts me at about 500 total through the pistol with only 1 failure to eject. I'm pretty happy with it so far. After the FTE, I did a detailed strip and clean and found the ejector tube pretty dirty. I've put about 350 rounds through it since then without an issue.

I bought this used and so far, so good. It's a stock Springfield Mil-Spec (early type, from before they offered the GI). My plans are to do some minor mods as I gain experience with it. At this point, it is more accurate than I am, so the biggest task is to put as much ammunition through it as I can afford do improve myself before I worry about the gun.

I'm having a ball with it though.

    Tim,
Good score! Even tho they are made in Brazil they are still supervised by Springfield reps.I had one similar to your and really liked how smooth it shot.I replaced those little bitty sights with some XS Big Dots and it really hammered the bullseye!

The nice thing about the early Mil-Spec is that they are kind of a cross between the current Mil-spec and the GI. They have the 3 dot sights, but they are not overly high. One of the guys in the next lane offered to let me shoot a couple of his revolvers and the sights were much easier to see. Even with 3 dot sights, I may want to go to something a little higher, but will wait until I've gotten some more rounds downrange to see of I get comfortable with the ones I have.

I got lucky and found a slightly used Springfield "Loaded" Model at a bait shop 2 weeks ago. I shot it in an IDPA match today and it functioned flawlessly. It's got the Novak sights and the beavertail with the bump grip safety. I was impressed. Swapped out the full length guide rod for a GI set up though...
