So I picked up a Robertsons Stykbow in a trade.

    I'm hooked!

Went out and shot two rounds, as I have 14 arrows.

Started about 15 yards out and hit the target ten times my first round and 11 times my next.

I did a LOT better than I thought I would. Did find I shoot a little better three fingers under.

    What a blast!

A buddy of mine shoots a long bow. I have shot it and it is fun!! I will eventually get a long bow or recurve. In the mean time I am having fun with my compound.

Congrats on the new bow! Recurves are fun and I plan on getting another someday. I'd rather not modify the old one that was my dad's, it has very little of a rest on it.

Nice bow! try tilting the bow at a slight angle it might help you some. There are varying degrees mine is a little more drastic but its up to you to decide unless you like the bow at 90 degrees and that way feels more comfortable.

Say, you look familiar...did you used to shoot at the Deep River Bowmen's shoots? :)

JT, have you been to this site?
3Rivers Archery Equipment, Traditional Youth Archery Bows and Arrows, and Long Bow Hunting

If you really enjoy traditional archery (or once you do) they are a great resource for all things traditional. Plus, they're here in Indiana.

Plus, they have Fred Asbell's books. Buy Instinctive Shooting Vol 1 G. Fred Asbell - Instinctive Shooting Vol 1 by G. Fred Asbell

Fred's pretty good about explaining things clearly.

I've been looking over the website and will be ordering that book on Friday, thanks!

Also...if you really like some adventure stories "Fred Bear's Field Notes" is another great book for some light reading at night. Detailed accounts of his hunting experiences from his journals he kept....If you can't tell I'm a huge advocate of Fred Bear.:D
