    Group,

I am in the market for my first ankle gun.. Looking at it as primarily a backup weapon, but it may see some primary time as well. It needs to be small enough to fit comfortably on the ankle but larger than the Keltec style. pistols.

Any ideas of what to look at? Let me know.

I'll throw my vote in for the Kahr PM9. For me personally it has been a great gun.

I also have some experience with the Glock 26. Reliable as hell but a little larger than the Kahr. Just my humble opinion. Good luck!

I've carried the Glock 26 on my ankle. It's takes a while to get used to but then you dont know its' there.

I have to throw my two cents in here - Kahr PM9. Great little gun, smaller than a Bersa Thunder .380, and pretty comfortable to shoot accurately. Especially with a Hogue handall jr.

Good point about shootability (is this a word?). I really like the Kahr because it shoots easily for such a small gun.

I use a 5 shot S&W revolver inside my left ankle. A few years ago my Daughter surprised me and wanted to go Golfing while I was wearing it so we played 9 Holes
it wasn't a problem but it sure as hell didn't improve my game.

I carry a P11 but if you are not into Keltec, you may look into a Walther PPS. I have not shot one but have heard good things about it.

Be cautious if you look into a new Bersa Thunder .380. I know you said 9mm but I went looking for a 9mm and ended up with a Bersa 380. Had all kinds of issues with the disconnector spring popping out of place. Sent into get repaired and had the same issue. The forums are littered with new 380 thunders with the same issue. I heard the older ones are great though.

I came across a Detonics Pocket 9, can anyone tell me about this firearm? Are they reliable, accurate pistols?

You may want to take a close look at the Wather PPS (Police Pistol Slim)

It's a very nice weapon with 3 different magazine (6, 7, & 8 round) lengths to change the grip size, and a 1.04 inch profile... That is skinny!

I use either one of these in an ankle rig, both will serve you well

    S&W 442 on the left------Keltec PF9 on the right.
