I just purchased a S&W 686 Plus 6in barrel from Bob at Plainfield Shooting, took it out back tonight shot some of my reloads in it. They were 8.6 grains of Unique with a 125 grain hollow point, accuracy is very good. The single action trigger feels like the Smith's of the old days nice and smooth and crisp, double action very respectable also. With the exception of the stupid lock hole it shoots every bit as good as an old 66-2 we have. So far very happy with this wheel gun.

Here's my collection of Smith's at one point in time. I no longer have the 642 or the 6" Talo 7 shot. The 642 had terrible accuracy and the 6" was just too long for me. Still have the 3" and 5". I really love the Talo versions. Their triggers are extremely nice

I concur. Love my 3" Talo

Oh nice , congratulations! A 6" 686 is what I started with as my first handgun back in 1987. Don't have my original anymore but have owned 4 other 686s since then and a few 586s as well. My current 686 6" and 586 4" are probably the two most accurate 357 revolvers I've ever owned.

I don't fire 125s in the 357 much with the traditional magnum powders like 296 or H110 due to the earth shattering concussion and muzzle blast. Will load some 125 XTPs with your Unique load next time I shoot the 357s.

700 LTR 223 you will like the Unique load is has been very accurate and does not seem to punish the revolver, I have some 158 grain going to use some Unique on those as well. Most people think Unique is outdated but man 6.0 grains in a 230 FMJ 45 acp in my 1911 is awesome.

Tried out the Unique load today at 25 yards , shot from a standing position with a 1X Burris target dot scope. Made the mistake of adjusting to the left after my first few shots , should have not messed with it. Much less blast and concussion compared to H110 or 296 loads. Will try a group from a rest next time to really test the accuracy compared to my 158 grain loads. Thanks for recommending the Unique load!

Your welcome, 700 LTR 223 good shooting there, i really like Unique for a lot of different calibers kind of my go to powder for a lot of years. I like Alliant powders finally got around to trying some 2400 for my new 686 14.0 grains with a 158 SJHP Remington bullet. You could definitely tell it was a 357 Magnum with that load lol.
