In an attempt to increase participation I am posting a summary of the May meeting. This is a typical meeting, lots of visiting and mutual support.

    May 2015 INGO meeting minutes
The Bloomington area MSG 3 meeting was held Wednesday May 6[SUP]th[/SUP] at Trailhead pizza on 446. Seven people attended to include 3 ladies. One lady was a first time visitor. Welcome to her!
Fine food was had by all with much entertaining and educational discussion.
Some of the topics discussed were:

The use of Ballistol lube on guns and all other metal parts and the strong unpleasant odor it has.

Motorcycle safety and how one member has a broken arm due to an error on a car driver’s part.

A few discussions on driving safety and related stories of miss spent youth ensued.

    Gardening and current planting,

In discussing a local recent murder, one member felt the crime was done near his home and how his home security system
Is done. He discussed his expertise in HD camera choices, a dedicated PC to run them all, also a free online program that works well for him.

Some of the ladies discussed the TWAW (The Well-Armed Woman) group and Nashville’s group also.

General discussions on family matters, job dislikes and updates ensued with a lot of humor injected.

One person brought in recipes to give away; making butter from powdered milk, and dehydrating eggs without a dehydrator. Handouts were sent home with each family.

Purity of storage foods were discussed and if non GMO foods were important in long term storage.

Current events in the news , the shooting skills of police in Texas, and current riots were discussed.

One member shared a photo of an old black powder pistol just acquired.

One lady spoke regarding rabbits and their care. Chicken raising was tied into the rabbit raising.

Then diseases and medical care were discussed. Homemade vinegar was discussed and herbal / plant uses for medicine. A promise of future printed vinegar recipes was made.

Once again moving the meeting was briefly discussed as they have no coffee, tea, or deserts here, and are expecting a lot of boaters in the summer to fill the place.
Nothing was decided so we shall meet at Trailhead again next month first Wednesday 3rd of June - unless online they decide otherwise.

Please bring ideas next month on where to move the meeting too. The place needs to have :
    ample free parking,
    a few soft movable seats,
a side room or back corner that is not crowded, big enough to hold our 6- 14 person group.
no TV’s or ones that can be turned off , and no loud music or singing at meeting time,
An a la carte menu (for all sorts of people: diabetics, kids, American, no spicy, many choices also). Our members range from “ just want pie and coffee” to a full meal with salad & deserts.
An average cost place is preferred with clean restrooms.
Open until at least 9 preferably 10pm.
Some members bring family and kids so an over 21 bar tavern-grill will not do
On the IU campus is not favored, as too many distracting students and no parking.
Any area or local town will be considered.

It would be nice to know how many members are from what areas so we could pick a central place. One person suggested we bring a map and draw dots to see the grouping,
Another suggested we have a summer place and a winter place, each for 6 months of meetings.

One idea was to add a spring and fall picnic where we meet outside and “ do “ something, like shoot, learn knife skills, mapping etc. while having a pitch in picnic.
This would need to be at a park, on private property, or a range. Ideas are welcome.

The meeting adjourned about 9:30 as normal. A good visit and much humor was had by all. All are welcome June 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] 2015 6-9pm

Next month you bring the rhubarb crisp and I'll bring a thermos of coffee.

I keep forgetting to bring up the fact that there are a couple of dandy ice cream places (close at 10-11:00) on the way most follow back through B-town. They are mostly geared toward outside dining.

    MSG3 June Meeting Minutes

Minutes of the June 3rd 2015 INGO meeting for MSG3 Bloomington.

Much was discussed and changes were made to the meeting place.

Members met at Trialhead Pizza about 6pm. There were many greetings and friendly discussions.
One person asked about the group’s history and we found out it started in 2009 by several local people who no longer come. Also our president (Philo)- informed us of our Facebook page.
Another person asked if we would ever reveal our full identities, addresses, emails or texts for when SHTF for Mutual support. That seemed to be the original use of the group. That brought up the topic of how to contact each other. HAM radio was mentioned. One member displayed his personal handheld Baofeng brand and recommended it. Another member who has his license and knows a good deal on this was dubbed our “communications officer”Much information is online free for HAM radio testing, study for licensing and purchasing $35 handhelds. One site of many is QRZ.com

A map was passed around for recent attendees to put a mark near where they live so we could see our grouping for meeting places.(several people were absent so we ball parked where they live) Nine live west of Hwy 37 and 7 live east of Hwy 37. Five live out of county and 11 live in county (of the regular attenders for the past year). Three suggestions for a new meeting place were passed around. A listing for best days to attend a "go do something”meeting was passed around.
A door prize was drawn for, and a lady won the Bic brand - Flame disk prize. A camping fire or cooking flame alternative in a tin disk.

Many topics were discussed- here are a few: Appleseed shoots stopping in Indiana (ETA6/22/15 Appleseed is still in Indiana, check out the Appleseed & Revere's Riders forums INGO advertisers training section. Check with the national office for shoots), rhubarb plants, grape plants: seedlings one member may bring in for free give away .Using food mills and buying items at yardsales for prepping, motorcycle luggage and a members new lock boxes were shown to several members. Midnight rider marksmen (Appleseed replacement), Prices of apples and fruit, persimmon pulp and local fruit sources.

One person told of how Silvadene medicinal cream would begood to have at home. You have your doctor prescribe it and keep on hand
Information is at Silvadene - FDA prescribing information, side effects and uses Another mentioned having Ophthalmic Erythromycin on hand, it cost herabout $1 a tube.Info at Erythromycin ophthalmic medical facts from Drugs.com Please be responsible and do your own research into any drug before use on yourself, family or pets.

We would like to invite all the members who have not come in a while to join us. Please contact any current or old members you know by phone, PM or email and invite them. First Wednesday of every month.
Please also mention to them we are discussing having a second meeting a month (on a different day for the week) for a “do something “gathering.
Our members have many skills! We are looking for informal training, for a small group. It does not have to be fancy training just show the few who come (2-6 people) how to do your topic.
One person spoke of a medical talk, one of gardening for SHTF, shooting skills or just practice, HAM radio info, food preservation, personal protection with a stick or ink pen;all other such topics are welcome. If you have a skill or information you want to share, come to the meeting if you can. Otherwise send a PM or post in this thread your topic/subject of instruction.
The day, time & place will be chosen by the trainer. Since you will be “running the show” It will happen on your schedule, it will be up to everyone else to fit to the instructor’s schedule if they want to attend.

Much joking and good food was had by all. After making the changes below, we dismissed about 9:40pm.

Changes made: after much discussion and debate, (as no restaurant was perfect for our needs)It was decided that the July 1st 2015 meeting will be held in the new spot at:

    Gandolfo’s New York Deli
    Located at:3304 West 3rd St.Bloomington, IN 47404
This is near Gates drive on West Third street in a small plaza- next to My Thai Café.
On the North side of 3rd St.(no direct access from 3rd) and behind Arby’s, visible from Wendy’s.
Hours are WEDNESDAY: 10:30 am - 09:00 pm Parking is free.

Gandolfo's Deli® New York Delicatessen (Gandolfos) Sandwiches - Gandolfos Deli

If this place turns out to be unsuitable, we will discuss in a few months moving again. Some were in favor of having a summer meeting site and a winter meeting site as we like to stay past 9pm in warm weather and visit. One could be East side and one could be West side. One suggested we get ice cream after the 9pm closing time to continue visiting.

    July 2015 INGOmeeting minutes

The Bloomington area MSG 3 met at Gandalfo’s New York deli off west 3[SUP]rd [/SUP]Street on July 1[SUP]st[/SUP] at 6:00pm.
Seven people attended. Much discussion, jokes and friendly talk occurred.

Some of the topics discussed were:

Classes given by www.NativeExecutiveSecurity.com instructorJonathan Wallace Noblesville In.

    Recent crimes and cyber-attacks.

Handcuff keys at Sparrows Lock picking supplies, in case of being kidnapped. www.sparrowslockpicks.com

How to know if a crisis has happened or just a short power outage?

That Indiana’s handgun permit is now on a hard card- not the pink paper.

    How to dehydrate onions.

One member has a cherry pitting machine.

Dog and pet care- one member felt the care from the veterinarian at Arlington Hts. is very poor and did not recommend it to the others.

One member’s dog is on long term medication.

Which started a discussion on ways to stockpile long term maintenance medicine for both humans and pets.
One way to do this (hypothetically) was explained. Here is a brief summary:

You can stock up on medicine and keep most dry meds for up to 10 years if kept in a dry cool place. The effectiveness may decrease slightly but if you have nothing, then it is better than nothing. (Or it might kill you)

Please do not do this if you are on Medicaid or Medicare-it is fraud.

To get more medicine for stockpile: When you visit your doctor for your normal medicine prescriptions. Take the prescription to your normal drug store and fill using your normal insurance. Then a few months later call your doctor and tell them you or the pharmacy goofed up and canceled the prescription thinking it was a different one, and now they won’t fill a cancelled one.

Act upset and angry, and that you wish it called into a different pharmacy. Like CVS. Then go to the new pharmacy and sign up for the in store discount program. Some may cost you about$20. Once you get the in store discountcard, then fill the prescription and pay with cash. DO NOT use your insurance. Now you have prescriptions at two stores and fill them both each month. The spares you can store in your home safe or other cool dry place. It will remain effective for years past the date. This works for pet meds also.

This should only be used for blood pressure and other medicine of that type. DO NOT attempt this with ANY pain med or narcotic. Those are cross checked in some system and it will get flagged.

Do not attempt to sell, swap or give away these medicines. Keep all medicines away from children, pets, and impaired. INGO has no responsibility for opinions expressed by members. Please do research on topics discussed here, as they are personal opinions only.

We are not doctors (well one or two are) so please consider all ideas discussed as to: if it is proper, legal, or moral for you, your pets and lifestyle.

Another member suggested reading the book “One Second After” (puts medicine in perspective)

Water storage was discussed and rain barrels and a new “rain saucer” was discussed. RainSaucers - Free Standing, stand alone, Rainwater Collection and Harvesting w/ any Rain Barrel , No roof, gutters or downspout, Funnel collector, DIY Kit

An offer of free example medical suture kits being brought and given out, to the next meeting.

Security systems and dash cams were discussed.

A donated door prize was drawn for and a lady won 2 books on WWII facts and trivia.

A discussion of this new meeting place was held and all agreed it was very loud with poor acoustics. Most the other parameters were met by this place. The food was very good. We decided to try it for a few months at Gandolfo’s. Later after most left, a few members went to the outside tables and found it was much easier to hear. Within 2 blocks are about 15 restaurants that a member could pick up food from, or brown bag it, and bring to the outside tables should they wish.

We are planning on the Aug 5[SUP]th[/SUP]meeting being held at Gandolfo’s – outside tables - weather permitting. From 6pm -9pm.
3304 West 3rd St. Bloomington, IN 47404 this is near Gatesdrive on West Third Street in a small plaza- next to My Thai Café.

With so many close places we could also continue the visiting after 9pm.

Please tell all your friends and email the members that have not been in a few months. Remind them of the new time & place.
We are still open to volunteers to teach a 1-2 hour class on a separate “do something” day. The trainer sets the time, place and topic. Just post it on INGO or come to the monthly meeting.

Hope to see you next month.

    Followup to the July meeting

Thank you for the warm welcometo this month's meeting. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I look forward to next month's meeting. On that note, I have access to a FREE private meeting space in Fountain Square Mall (right downtown on the Courthouse Square) and I confirmed that it is available on the evening of August 5. Parking is FREE in the 4th Street Garage starting at 6PM. In fact, the gate arm is up, so you don't even have to mess with taking a ticket. It also has a skywalk connected to the building so bad weather is not an issue.

The only possible issue is that there is no food directly available in the room, short of having it catered (which y'all are welcome to do). However, there are several restaurants within a 3 block radius, from $6 sandwiches to $10 pizzas to $15 entrees, some of which will gladly deliver themselves: Jimmy John's comes to mind first. Others are available through Mr. Delivery or Straight 2 Your Door (though I've never used the third-party meal delivery services before myself).

Other than that, it meets the criteria set forth in the May meeting minutes, repeated here for your convenient review:
    ample free parking,
    a few soft movable seats,
a side room or back corner that is not crowded, big enough to hold our 6- 14 person group.
no TV’s or ones that can be turned off , and no loud music or singing at meeting time,
An a la carte menu (for all sorts of people: diabetics, kids, American, no spicy, many choices also). Our members range from “ just want pie and coffee” to a full meal with salad & desserts.

On the IU campus is not favored, as too many distracting students and no parking.
Any area or local town will be considered.

Let me know what you think. You won't hurt my feelings either way. Regardless of the location, I look forward to the next meeting.
