John Q Public: I saw an obvious housecat but it was really a mountain lion. I saw a bobcat, it must be a mountain lion.
DNR: Obvious housecat is a housecat. Bobcat's are not short-tailed mountain lions.

While I've seen bobcats, I haven't seen a cougar in IN . . . yet.
However, the wife saw a cougar on a walk in western Monroe county (back in Nov. if I recall correctly). Chatted with the neighbor about it and he said he got one on a game camera the PRIOR year (same area). Next time I see him I'll have to ask if he can send me a pic.
When I related the above to a friend who lives on some acreage in Owen county, he told me he also saw a cougar in his driveway last year.
The density is low, but they're around.

knew a looney-toon who raised rabbits, and would take them hunting - holding one upside-down by the back legs will get it to scream like the predator distress calls, but much more... intense.
Rabbit- my dogs killed one in our backyard. Scared one of the dogs!
