I love the mosin 91/30, and have been slowly getting all the parts together for the cleaning kit since i got my last one for the sake of having all the factory goodies together with the rifle. Loading it with stripper clips is a lot of fun too.

@Miller Tyme So that's where all the PU's went lol, amazing collection, I'm waiting on a friend to sell his PU, fingers crossed. The VZ 54 is interesting, the stock came like that from the upgrades?

No that is the original vz 54 stock, the vz54/91 was its upgraded version.

As for PU's, they are a health obsession with the Hungarian variation (M52) being my favorite. 20170218_170637.jpg

OK folks, I now have proof that Miller Tyme makes these in his workshop. Looks like it was just built yesterday. That is beautiful!

We've had a bunch of Mosin's over the years. For a while, I was buying, cleaning them up, polishing bits where possible and then giving them to family members along with a can of ammo as birthday gifts. There were at least 8 in the safe at one point. We have 3 remaining and those three are long term favorites of ours. My oldest son has a Westinghouse M91. My youngest has a 1942 vintage M38 and I have a Finn M91/30 from about 1942 or 43. The Westinghouse is also Finn SA marked. I do wish I had kept the M39 that we had for a while. That was heavy for a Mosin, but shot well.

Once in a while, if the opportunity presents itself, I'll take the M91/30 out on a snowy day and let it relive a bit of it's old glory.

We shoot my mosin quite a bit. In fact need to find a spam can to replenish..
Here is a piece of 1” steel I shot at about 110 yards. Pretty cool impact. No idea what type of round it was but for it to hold together like this is impressive
The impact above it is a .223 round FBB4BEAA-5082-41E9-A006-82FA54704223.png

Simple strong design, that though outdated, is still very serviceable.
Only problem with them really is they aren't the inexpensive bargain they once were.
This is the one I did up for my son a couple years back. Kinda wish I'd kept it. He would have got it eventually anyway... lol.

I have had the itch for mil-surp CMP vintage sniper match type rifles for a few years now. Because of this I have a Mosin 91/30 sniper in my collection. I have friends that collect and shoot many Mosins but they have never done anything for me. IMO

I wise man once said: The Germans make great hunting rifles, the English make great battle rifles, the Americans make great target rifles and the Russians make great canoe paddles...

They are what they are, I have had several back in the day. Fun to shoot, but to think we had the M1 Garand when the Russians showed up with these things... no contest.

I can remember after buying each rifle looking up every marking it had, it was pretty fun just trying figure out what is was, sort of like decoding a mystery.

I knew when I was buying them for $79.00 dollars each , it wasn't going to last. They were all in very good exterior shape but the bores varied, one I bought had a bad looking bore that I missed so I wasn't too happy with it at first, but it actually turned out to be a decent shooter.
