If this is your polite way of calling me liar, I understand and fully accept your omnipotence. I wasn't within 6ft of impact at 500 yards, I didn't get burned, I don't even have one of the doughnuts of brass on the chain to my St Christopher medal that I wore in boot camp. Here, for all those years, I have carried those memories and souvenirs only now to know that it all must have been a bad dream. Thanks for setting me straight from my weak minded confusion and I bow down to your obvious superiority to anything but the Almighty. Now back to your comment of a piece of metal screen will protect one at 500 from a 55 grain 5.56 out of a A1 is as silly as saying Mattel Toy co built M16's and Magazines for them.

• Penetration of .135-inch steel plate at 500 yards
• Accuracy and ballistics equal to M2 ball ammunition (.30-06 Springfield) out to 500 yards

Added a few Surefire Socom quick adapters today. I shot this one ( A Rock River Gov Model ) and it tighted up my 100 yd groups. Who would have thought?

At a bare minimum, the MK12 on the far left, the FDE one, and the thermal off of the one in between. The 9mm just because it’s so quiet.

So, 3 guns, and an extra optic. Good for day or night, near or far.
77gr MK262 for both of the 5.56 guns and 147gr for the 9mm. All optics are quick detach/reattach to zero, proven.

Any one of these would get the job done. Proper web gear with magazine pouches and some canteens, maybe a butt pack with some extra gear in it. Really all you need

A bayonet is useful for checking in on boars that look down, but may not be down...particularly if you are in a ravine.

And other stuff too of course.

Since we're now showing our bayonets I decided to pull my old one out of storage and it was in dire need of oil. She's old, been through some hard times but still in great shape.

It pried cans open, boxes, cleaned between toes....
