If the house doesn’t fund it, does it matter what the senate thinks?

I admittedly have a grade school knowledge of how it is ‘supposed’ to work.
It was voted in already in one of those trillion dollar monstrosities. as I understand it, this is a stand alone bill removing that funding That the senate and president would have to sign off on. But I may be wrong.

That would be great, but does anyone think Schumer will ever Allow a vote in the Senate on it?
Even if he did democrats would vote it down. Even if a couple senators defected the President would veto it. Taking the house only meant Democrats can’t get much accomplished by legislation the next couple of years. But with such a small majority it only takes a few establishment CoC’s voting with Democrats to mess that up.

Would sure have been nice if Republicans could have performed in midterms as expected.

Good start. McCarthy just stated first order next week will be to repeal the funding for 87k new IRS bozos.

Its all for show, anything McCarthy puts up he knows the Senate will shoot down. McConnell made sure of that. And even if he didn't the democrats have enough RINO's to stop anything. Thats why the Senate republicans voted on that big spending bill to last awhile. When it runs out McCarthy will cave to house democrats to raise the debt ceiling, borrow more $$$....then claim victory for working in good faith with democrats for the good of the country. The circus in D.C. continues, just new clowns following orders "putting American people first" speeches.

All proposals from spending must originate in the house. They could defund the FBI and there isn't a damn thing the senate could do about it. Don't underestimate the power of the purse. Such a budget might not pass the senate, but if they stuck to their guns like the 20 are doing for the speaker vote they could force concessions from the senate

Why do you think McConnell allowed the temporary funding bill to prevent a government shutdown to run until the end of the fiscal year? He undercut the newly republican house's power of the purse for as long as he possibly could. He knows what a problem the house could be (for him) with a truly conservative leader
What do you mean the Senate can’t do a damn thing about it? They can vote it down. The President can do something about it too, in case a couple of Rogue democrats fall out of line. He can veto it. Best thing the House can do now is play spoiler to what Democrats want to accomplish.

Here’s one thing they can do. Impeach Joe Biden. Of course there is not a snowball’s chance in hell that the Senate would ever convict. But in the words of Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden “…will always be impeached.”

It’s already funded by the previous congress. But in the next omnibus they could try to defund it. That would throw the Senate into a tizzy. Ultimately the Republicans would cave because Democrats and the media will call them Nazis and sone defectors would cave. Or maybe it wouldn’t even pass the House in the first place. CoC’s gonna CoC.

I have little faith that Republicans can perform any better than they did against 0bama.
