SPF Marlin 39 takedown late 50's Manufacture

    SPF

I have a Marlin 39 22 S, L, LR manufactured in the late 50's that I am looking to sell. Serial number is N231XX. Decent shape, great shooter. One of the previous owners attempted to refinish the wood. It has a nice gloss finish, but the stain in not very even. The buttplate is also broken. The bluing I would rate at 50%. Barrel is 20 inches from the breech.
I am looking to get $375 for it.
The first "I'll take it" posted on the site gets it. Please ask all questions via PM so that it does not get bumped without a good reason.
Location in NE Indiana (Ft. Wayne area). Not wiling to travel a great distance for this deal.
The only trade I would be interested in would be for a Uberti Silverboy.

Actually from your picture. What it appears you have is not just merely a Marlin 39 "take-down". It looks to be a Marlin 39-A Mountie which is the carbine version of the standard 39A. Which is somewhat more desirable than a Marlin 39A which has the longer barrel and pistol grip stock. I believe you are correct on the year of manufacture (50's vintage). If the serial started with a "V" I would be all over it. V would indicate year of manufacture as 1962. Which is what I am after. Nice rifle none the less.:)
