Go for it, you won't be disappointed.
I have several and love them (45-70).

Good rifle, mine has put a lot of meat in the freezer, it's fun and can be made economical to shoot.:)

Interesting that you have to be a "Team Bud's" member to buy this rifle. For the low price of $29.95 they allow you to buy their goods????

I like my Marlin. The fact you can scope it is what convinced me. I went for the 35 Rem in a 336. I can load my own with shortened cases to be legal for deer season and I got it for 1/2 that price used and it wasnt a Remlin. Marlin Firearms Forum is a great resource.

Marlin's quality has been a crap shoot lately. I looked at 5 of them and gave up, spent another $50 and bought a Henry. I am still looking for a Marlin but it will probably be a used JM stamped :-( If you can't lay your hands on it before you buy it I would pass or at least have the mind set that you were going to have to go threw it when you got it. And if it turned out to be great then you'll be even more happy.

    Issues I saw were:

    Canted front sight.

    Gritty and or stiff actions.

Stock to receiver fit was poor. All of them looked like that were fit with a pocket knife then sanded smooth.

I have 2 Henry's and I am totally happy with them.
