So for those that know how this process works...does the dissent mean the House won't agree to the Senate's changes and therefore it is going to Conference Committee, where the House & Senate conferees and advisors come into play to reconcile the differences?

If the conference committee comes to a mutual agreement, does anything else need to happen in order for that agreement to become law other than the Governor's signature?

I just called Rep. Eberhart's office and spoke with Kate; she said "today is the last day of session, and there should be movement on it (HB1415) today."

21/2017 House reconsidered and concurred in Senate amendments; Roll Call 539: yeas 90, nays 8

It is no longer a House bill and has become a House Enrolled Act. It's ready for the Governor.

    Great news!
It won't affect me any, as my only two centerfire rifles are my Marlin .45 Colt and Ruger .30-06, but I'm still happy for the legions of folks with rifles sitting in their safes that haven't been fired except at the range or maybe at the occasional coyote.
Holcomb's signature is all that's left, and he'll certainly sign without hesitation.

Same here, I only have the 30-06, and am thrilled to be able to deer hunt with it, but am happy for the others who will be able to use the different calibers they have.

Question: Will someone put together a comprehensive list of all the actual cartridges that will now be legal? It adds to the confusion to only list the cartridge dimensions. I believe hunters want it spelled out very clearly.

A comptehensive list would have hundreds if not thousands of chamberings.

Basically anything 6mm-221 Fireball thru 375 Ultra Mag, to include 338 Lapua Mag. No Barrett, Cheytac, or BMG cases as they have case lengths in excess of 3.00".

Here is an extremely truncated list of popular medium game, factory ammunition centerfire rifle calibers that would now be legal for Indiana deer on private land as soon as the Governor puts his signature to paper:

    257 Roberts
    25-06
    6.5 Grendel
    6.5 Creedmoor
    260 Remington
    6.8 SPC II
    270 Winchester
    7mm-08
    280 Rem
    284 Win
    7mm Rem Mag
    338 Federal
    338 Win Mag
    358 Win
