Hi all, I recently received some of my great grandpas guns when he passed away. One is an Iver Johnson cadet in 38s&w, it's brand new in the box with the receipt for 38.00 in1968. I know it's not worth much value wise but I'm thinking about bobbing the hammer and carrying it. What do you think? Should I leave it alone or enjoy it. 20170406_131223.jpg

Seconded on leaving it alone, and I'd recommend against it for carry duty, unless you don't have anything else capable of better ballistics.
The old S&W round isn't even quite up to the level that most people consider the minimum suitable round for carry, i.e. .380 ACP.
To make matters worse, the ammo manufacturers haven't been loading it with the current generation of bullets that perform significantly better than it ordinarily can.

Thanks guys. I received a pretty decent amount of very old handguns from him.I have plenty of carry pieces so I'll keep her in the box locked up. I was pulling for the opinions you guys gave so thank you. Dan
