This is what my grandson and myself will be tote'n in the woods this year.

The short rifle is one I traded an INGO member. It is a Columbian Mauser in .30'06. It has the custom stock that has been bedded, a Timney trigger and a Lyman peep. I touched the bluing up some, I wish I had one as nice when I was 13 years old.

Grandad is playing backup with the 1962 Winchester Model 100 in .308 and Nikon scope. It isn't my regular rifle but I am not going to be the primary shooter so the 45-70 stays in the sock.

I made him promise me to never try and put a scope on the Columbian, it is just too sweet to mess with. I have oodles of other scoped rifles for when his eyes get old, but for now he has to use them.

I want to blast a Bambi but I've never done so. I don't have a deer gun and have no idea where to go for success.

I only know two hunters and they only do bow hunting. Anyone want to take an enthused rookie out this year?

That Winchester is no slouch. Using old military FMJ shooting off the elbow it almost did MOA at 100y. Got me some PPU soft nose and will be fix'n to do some serious shoot'n tomorrow, then run a few patches and in the case till November.

I will have my hands full with my grandson.

My farm isn't hunting, it is harvesting. Last year, with two shooters, we took 5 in 2 days from the same blind.

I just wish getting the coyotes were as easy.

My Tikka T3x in .260 Rem will be my primary deer rifle again this year with a Steyr Pro Hunter in .25-06 as my backup for hunting in wet, nasty weather. If I get my buck early, I'll probably hunt does with some combination of mil-surps and old lever guns.

I love the look of the Mannlicher style stocks! I have a CZ 550 FS in .243 AI and Ruger M77 RSI in .270 with Mannlicher stocks that I need to work up some loads for. Neither will likely make it out this year but I hope to get them both out next year.

Tikka 595 in .243 is my favorite. Although the new Sako s20 in 6.5 CM will prolly get the call this yr if I don't get an arrow through one.
How do you like the s20? I've been eyeing one for awhile.

    Get 'er done!

Spent time loading up some 45-70 for my regular deer getter and ended up buying some .308 to use instead. Funny what changes come with opportunity. But then, how bored would we be if we only had one gun with one type of ammo?

Steyr PH .30-06 has not been blooded.
Hard to let the .35 rem 760 sit in the safe when the leaves have dropped.
700 in .243 got a new HS stock.......is yote rig but could do for deer (have plenty of Deer Season XP for it).

Watch me buck out in bow and totally screw my gun season LOL

I found my dream deer rifle a little over a year ago, a really nice 81 year old Remington 141 in 35 caliber. Its not drilled for a scope and won't be as long as I have it. If I need a scope I'll use my old Marlin 336 Texan also in 35. An old timey woodsman friend used a 141 when I was a kid and I've always wanted wanted one. It only took me 60 plus years to find one I could afford .
