Iran Sends 4,000 Troops To Aid Syria's Assad | Zero Hedge

I wonder how many Russia and China will send?

All this for Qatar to put in a natural gas line to Europe(Turkey).Qatar is the richest country in the world per capita(as of 2012).It has also already spent over 200 million in the last 2 years to "aid" rebels in Syria.

Qatar needs to go through Syria with the pipe line.Syria says no.Qatar funds and stirs a rebellion in Syria. The EU supports Qatar(cheap natural gas).Russia the primary provider of natural gas to the EU supports the Syrian government, and strangely the rule of international law.The US,under pressure from the EU and Israel support the rebels.China, who imports oil from Syria supports Assad.

It is a proxy war.Soon to possibly be a real war.

The really sad part is who the new leadership would be if the west has its way.We will have another Libya/Egypt.Of course Syria would need a new central bank as well to complete the transformation. It would start by borrowing money from the IMF with interest, just like Libya and Egypt did.

In all this mess, what country is supporting international law and the UN charter?Strange when the scary communist country is for peace and we are not.Russia does understand a thing or two about Islamic terrorist though, lessons the west has not learned.

If our troops/Air Force gets stomped by the Russians and Iranians in Syria it might just be the wake up call that is much needed for our country to begin minding our own business.

Minding our own business--interests that is, would be to destroy assad's chemical arsenal so the islamo-nazis that dominate the rebel coalition cant get them, and then stand back on the side lines.

Might as well save our air force the trouble and send our Israeli attack dog to do it. Sure would save the money shipping our planes over. Israel is more than capable of taking out the stockpiles if we let them off their leash.

This is absolutely the worst time in our history to have a US-hating Muslim-sympathizing narcissistic demagogue ideologue amateur in the Oval Office. Many will suffer and die because of his incompetence and the incompetence of the electorate that put him there, AGAIN. God help us, because nobody else can.

Actually WWI would have been a worse time.

I'm so happy hezbollah and the iranistaners are stepping into to this, so they can walk into the sights of the FSA. It's terrorists killing other terrorists, what's not to love? I hope the war drags on as long as possible and they all kill each other. Insh'allah.

That would be fine and dandy if we weren't spending the money to arm them.

Qatar needs to go through Syria with the pipe line.

No, it doesn't. Go grab a map and dig through some news articles over the past 5 years. As long as Iraq is onboard, you don't need Syria. Saudi Arabia has been the main obstructionist for years, not Syria, and now that Iraq is settling down its both easier and cheaper for a Qatar-Iraq-Turkey pipeline than one that would pass through Syria. Run the pipeline from their northern fields under water in the gulf, come on to land in Iraq, stay in Iraq until the Turkey border.

There's a ton of articles out there, but this will give you the gist:

    ORSAM :: Foreign Policy Analysis

Not only the EU, but Iraq and Turkey also need Qatar’s natural gas. Iraq does not have sufficient natural gas reserves in the central and southern parts of the country. For this reason, even the oil wells in Basra utilize sea water instead of natural gas. Natural gas drilling in the Kurdish regions of Iraq can only supply northern Iraq. It will therefore be beneficial to Qatar if its natural gas is also supplied to Turkey and Iraq and integrated with the Nabucco project.

A pipeline project for Qatar’s natural gas will be favorable for Iraq, Turkey and the EU. However, Qatar insists on continuing to sell its natural gas in the form of LNG. It is not enthusiastic about a pipeline project. In this case, Qatar should be persuaded about the pipeline. Talks among the EU, Turkey, Iraq and Qatar should begin as soon as possible.

If you were to claim it was about keeping Iran bottled up and to disrupt the Iran/Iraq/Syria pipeline, that would be a more believable claim. Not necessarily true, but more believable.
