Michigan City Rifle Club will be holding an "Introduction to IDPA" class on Sunday morning, March 14, 2010. Class starts at 9am Central, and will end when the shooting portion of the class is finished (we're hoping to be done by 3pm). Please be a few minutes early to get signed in and situated.
Class will be held at the club's indoor range.
This class is intended to be a primer on participation in IDPA matches. It will include a look at the IDPA rules, legal equipment, scoring, and the types of classifications and divisions. We'll also take a look at a few tips and tricks for being a safer, better competitor.
It will include live-fire demonstrations and shooting-optional looks at simple IDPA "scenario" setups. Participants may take the opportunity to try shooting a scenario if they like; they should bring a carry-type gun and belt holster, as well as some ammunition and their safety gear (eye and ear protection).
The cost is $10 and there is no pre-registration. However, we have a limit of 20 participants due to range size so we are asking that you email with your name and contact information to get on the class roster.
IDPA 101 as we like to call it is aimed at the new-to-competition-shooter. This is a low-pressure way to get a close-up look at the "cardboard shooting" sports, if you haven't gotten a chance to take a look for yourself.
The range is on US 20 just east of Michigan City. If you are using Mapquest or another similar site, enter the club's address as:
