Really? Why would they feel it necessary to publish this kind of info? I'm not embarrassed about owning firearms and I don't care if anyone knows either... I just feel bad for all those houses that have been identified as "Gun Free Zones". WHAT were they thinking? duh

Are there any lawyers here who can tell me if it's illegal to sign those addresses up on the mailing lists for every hardcore porn mag I can find?

I'm assuming it would be harassment, and from the looks of the publisher's house she would be able to afford a much better lawyer than I could. :p

Probably mail fraud or something similar. However, if you were to buy a gift from a novelty site and include them on the catalog service...

This is completely unconscionable. This map has a red dot at the home of each permit holder, and if you click on the dot, it gives you their name and full address.

I was not able to click any of the dots, or see individual info. Could be an issue with my browser, or something. Is everyone else able to see the personal info?

Without the personal info, I don't have any objections to the map .. it's interesting. But if the personal info is really there .. I object like crazy ..

I am normally not a fan of vigilante justice, but it is almost expected in a situation like this. What what the columnist trying to accomplish? Forget the privacy concern (for now) they are putting these people in danger. That is complete B.S. If something were to happen to the poster in retaliation, I can't imagine I would feel sorry for them. Shame on me :D

This thread originated in December 2012, and targeted thefts have already occurred due to the map. They won't admit that it was solely because of the map, but it is highly likely.

    :orly:

And for those looking for definite ties to the Journal News’ gun map, police are saying that there is no direct evidence, thus far, that the burglary was related to the publication. In fact, at the moment, authorities believe that the home was not targeted — something police will continue to investigate.

Let's put your 1st A thought concept on this into a more practical understandable point for you to understand.

You local newspaper through legal methods finds out your entire weekly schedule that you routinely adhere to, along personal permits, licenses and ownership of properties.

Under your thoughts on prescribed 1A rights they have the right to publish all of the above info on you for no reason what so ever other than the intent to garner more sales with people that are not interested in your life.

The problem is, other than your small circle of immediate family and friends this is useless info, but they publish it anyway.

Now your life is exposed for what, for the pure purpose of sales, and it possibly puts you and your family life's at risk because all is known about you to people who may wish to do harm by criminal intent.

The above is no different than publishing the addresses of people who have permits, nothing is accomplished by this being known other than flagging each and every address where they should avoid, or rob when no one is home to target a firearm for theft.

IMHO, publishing the names of permit holders is overstepping the fundamental rights of the 1st, the framers of the Constitution, in my opinion didn't think they envisioned the use of the 1A to used in a way that can and will harm people by negligence.
