While I'm not totally new, I don't post much, so I admit that I am unfamiliar with tactics used by some here. But can someone help me with how to go about poisoning legitimate threads to the point of getting them locked without getting banned?

I can get along with just about anybody, and that would include you and Foszoe, IRL, I’d bet. I’d rather have a cheeseburger summit with someone that would stretch my thinking than someone that would rant on about what I believe and all I can do is nod my head.
I think the internet has a way of magnifying the differences in opinions, and minimizing the common ground. Or maybe you’re nuts.
We are all more alike than we are different. Sometimes you gotta boil it way way down to get to it, and sometimes it’s not worth the fuel, but I still think it can be found.

I think if you read several threads closely enough you will come to an understanding. Some members have a long history of stirring the pot and getting others banned, at least temporarily. Not naming names because that would get me in smelly kimche with one or two Mods.

I expect elections to be rigged because I remember the 1960's.
Glad that the crooks attempting to overturn the 2016 election didn't get their way.
Especially not like the 1960's.

My fear has always been that once the House, Senate and WH were under the control of one party, the rules would be changed where that one party would lock-up power for decades. The Mexican PRI party did that for 71 long years.

Weird Al Yankovic has made his living on parodies, but he does contribute $$$'s to the original artists even though he is not legally obliged to.

Some people walk right up to the line.
If you're getting in a "discussion" with the guy that walks right up to the line, and you're worried you'll be viewed as going over the line, stop having that discussion.
Or, put that person on ignore.
Or read it, but then move on.

If you think the guy is an expert at getting people to off themselves, don't get in the fight.

You seem to be telling someone how to avoid getting ban-hammered? I don't think that was what Oze was asking about, but I could be wrong.
