I patched today at the Evansville Appleseed!:rockwoot:

Everyone needs to attend one of these. I have been shooting a rifle for years. I have always thought that I was a good shot with a rifle.
I realized at the mini that I still had much room for improvement.
The instructors did a great job helping me with my consistency.
    Tighter groups....much tighter groups!

    I just want to thank:

You guys did a great job today.
    Thanks!

Yes it is. You will do a lot of shooting!
If there is one coming up in your area, you and the wife should definitely go!

My wife came really close to patching as well, but her rifle started malfunctioning towards the end of the day.

She will be shooting my rifle tomorrow......I'll try to get a few more in if I can.

    What were you guys running?

I really want and need to do an appleseed, and trying to decide if I want to do it with one of my AR's, or with my Marlin 60.

    Where's the bacon?
Congratulations, Rifleman! You've done our Heritage proud!

For those interested who might have missed it, we have shoots here in Indiana in April in Fort Wayne, Wabash, Cloverdale, Nashville, and Evansville, all on April 17 and 18, and another at Riley (Near Terre Haute) the next weekend, April 24 and 25.

There also are shoots in Ohio (4), Kentucky (2), Illinois (4), and Michigan (1) on the 17th and 18th and one in Ohio on the 24th and 25th.

We are going to have a great couple of days. You can, too, and if you sign up early, you even save some money on the registration.

Such a deal! Surely you can get off the couch for a weekend!

Shooters! Your preparation period begins NOW!

    Blessings,
    Bill

The ammo for the Marlin is much less expensive. :spend: Either or both will work just fine, though.

Yep, that's exactly the decision I'm wrestling with. I think if I can get my marlin runing reliably (very sensitive to cleanliness) I'll go with that. If not, it will be the AR. Just gonna have to hit the reloading press a bit more in that case.

I'm using a 10/22. I have had zero problems out of this rifle.
The wife has a Savage Semi-auto. Works well, but apparently it needs cleaned before 800 rounds.:dunno:

Question for the Appleseed instructors. Would the tubular magazine of the Marlin 60 be a problem during the drills where you use two magazines? How do you run those drills with a tubular magazine?

No problem at all - slightly modified line command instructions for tube feds but they do just fine. :yesway:
