I can only surmise there have been way more unfortunate boating accidents than we've been led to believe.

Using the data from Wikipedia and from the OP's source, in Lawrence county I'm, on average, 471ft away from a gun owner and there are about 40 gunowners per square mile.

Right now I'm at work so I'm approximately 17 miles from a gun, that I know of....
