Chad Buchanan, a manager at SaveMyHomeUSA – a group cooperating with the Obama administration that assists homeowners facing foreclosure – told WND illegal immigrants who own a home "could certainly apply under our program."
"We don't target or go after illegal immigrant customers," he said. "But if an illegal immigrant owns a home legally, we could try to help them under our program.

I'm mad as hell about paying for those who bought more house than they can afford that I'll be paying for but this.....:xmad::xmad::xmad::chillout:

theres got to be something missing in this story, thats just too infuriating to be right. thats taking gov handouts to an all new level. use the home assistance $ and purchase illegals a bus or plane ride out of here. its sad when an illegal thinks they have some legal business here in the US, just because they illegally entered the country, illegally worked in the us, and scammed the banks (which need to go to hell for their actions) to purchase a home. This somehow makes the purchase legal? go figure.

Agreed. WHat type of identificaiton did they provide when applying for their loan? If whomever loaned the money knew they were illegal, why are they not in jail?

Semperfi211 has it right. Just like the law were everything is confiscated from the drug dealers, we should have a law here that if you are here illegally your possessions should be confiscated and sold off with the proceeds going to fight illegal immigration. Glen

    Illegals legally owning a home?

Here's the problem, which arose during the Bush years. Certain banks, primarily Bank of America comes to mind, did not require mortgage applicants to submit Social Security Numbers. They accepted ITINs, which are temporary identifiers isued by the IRS. So they issued mortgages to purchase property legally, at least in accordance with the rules that Fannie Mae had in effect at the time. There were no questions asked regarding citizenship or status.

    Equal opportunity greed.

I must say, you should have all been pissed off about this a LONG time ago....

Part of the reason we had the housing crisis in the first place was the fact that illegals were getting houses and then deserting them a year or two in, when they'd go back home. All of those foreclosures brought down rates in the surrounding area.

When they'd come back the next working season, they go to another state and do it all over under another name.

People really need to wake up and be aware what's going on in this country. The slow invasion has been going on for more than ten years. Instead of the politicians doing something about it when the numbers were lower, now they seem to bend to them to attract votes...

This is why we will see amnisty soon, and the left will rule for YEARS to come.

Agree with you 9rows this section of INGO is a "bad place" for anyone's health.

Now on to the topic. Say we confiscate the home/properly then what? Sell it off governmet auction style like the gov does with all the other confiscations? Who is going to buy it? Have you seen the massive wave of unemployment? Not many have the money to buy the homes/property nor can they get the credit (loans) even if they wanted to.

Agree that illegals in some parts of the country did get homes via the method states above. Kalifornia has a slew of cases like this and now those people are gone or have straight up abandoned those homes due to cost. That is a sub-problem of what got us into this mess. That sub-problem alone is not the main cause to blame.

As has been talked about before it was GREED of the banks to loan to anyone, it was GREED of the DEMs during the clinton years to push for "low income" people to get homes, it was the GREED of the people that bought a home with the mindset of selling it 4 years later at a huge profit and not planning on staying in the home, it was the GREED of the people who got a 2nd mortage but did not use it to make improvements on the home but bought big screen TVs, took vacations, etc, it was the GREED of the REPs to continue to allow the banks to "profit on the books" from all these huge mortages. Basically GREED got us! Now we have to face the music and take the pain of what we allowed to happen.

For those of you that do not fit into any of the above you are still to blame (just like me) for allowing those in DC t do whatever they wanted for years! We failed to kick them out, we failed to keep them in check.
