I have several OptiVisor's in various strengths scattered around the house. Still using the first one I got in the 70's and the glass lenses are more resistant to scratching than plastic.

I've always used the desktop types shown above. I was always impressed by my dental hygenist who uses the headband model while poking around. Hers has smaller "prism-type?" magnifiers, rather than the glasses-lens type. Something to look into....

I like the ability to move around and not be tied to one spot. I have a lighted magnifier on a stand similar to yours I got when dad passed. I have never found a use for it.

Soldering .... that's when I mainly use mine.
For me, the advantage is the multi-LED lights in the mounted version that I posted.
The brighter the better, I've found ! :)

I typically use the headband type when working on watches but have the desktop type for bigger stuff that can still use a bit of even light and magnification. I have not checked to see what the state of the art is for headband magnifiers though.

Amazon product ASIN B075WR4M99I wear glasses but they are not enough at times to see the little things. Like threading the needle on a sewing machine.
    Give me your thoughts. Brands?
I use one similar when painting. Very good if the pieces are small and you are holding them in your hands.

I use magnifying lamp on workbench when object working on is stationary.
