PM me the serial numbers and I'll be able to confirm if they're mine. Totally.

If they were reported stolen, the office that took the report should have entered the info into NCIC. Any agency should be able to get that info within minutes (seconds really) of the search.

Some of the schools around here are on spring break. Its possible someone is out of town and doesn't even know his guns were stolen.

If I were to have a gun(s) stolen, how widely is that news made available? Is it possible they were stolen from a neighboring county and reported but the Ripley officials wouldn't know? How about if they were stolen from another state?
If they were reported stolen and they had the serial number, they will be entered into NCIC and any LEO running that serial number anywhere in the US will get a stolen hit on it. Same with missing people, runaways, stolen vehicles, and stolen articles where there is a unique serial number on it.

If you are going to find guns in a ditch in any county in Indiana, Ripley is a strong bet. Morgan is second.

I'm a little astounded at all these INGOers claiming that these guns are theirs.....not knowing whether they'll eventually show up as stolen in a database somewhere.

Apparently these people have learned nothing from you.

We found a shotgun case in the ditch along the highway a few years back. Turned out it had a shotgun in it. We called the sheriff and reported it. They took it and held it for 6 months. Nobody claimed it so they returned it to us.

We never could understand how someone loses a gun in the ditch but it was apparently not stolen.

After reading this, clearly some ( any non-stolen, non crime related) of these guns are mine and were clearly driopped by my movers 5 years ago. Please forward them to my local FFL.......
