    I feel some in this thread need to go find all of their English teachers and apologize to them...

    agreed...unfortunately I have the pleasure of studying under an English Ph.D professor 3 times a week.....and he's a prude on proper grammar, punctuation, etc.....

    A muzzle brake is used to inhibit the movement of the muzzle. So, it's a muzzle brake.

    To accomplish this inhibition of muzzle movement, it may act upon the gasses in a manner not precisely defined as braking.
    This is no biggy, since we're not calling it a gas brake.

    I still voted for Bacon. :)

    You really need to leave your distractions outside of the Classroom and focus just a little more then...

    It is a Muzzle Brake, not Break, but Brake. A muzzle Break is a whole different set of issues and concerns... ;)
