I have an 01 5.4, a spark plug blew out... think 20 bucks at autozone got me up and running again.

Other than rust, a fuel pump, changed the spark plugs, and brakes it has been a great truck. Shell rust out before the engine dies. She only has 84k on her.

200,000 miles without anything other than regular maintenance? ...seriously, 'cause that's my standard.

Would prefer a 5.0L, but less of them around.
There are few modern vehicles that meet your definition of reliable then. Basically only a Toyota Tacoma is worth buying then. Learn to wrench yourself and any minor repairs are not worth worrying about. Overall though, the F150 line is reliable https://vehq.com/ford-f150-common-problems/#Ford_F150_2015_Models_8211_Reported_Issues

My 2007 Silverado with a 5.3L has 206,000 miles and has never had a serious mechanical issue. Granted, I put 70 highway miles on a day.

I had one in my 08 f150. I wouldnt recommend. Whats already been said is true, i also had a dipstick freeze up in it, which was a first for me. Both front strut springs broke despite it being absolutely babied. Had it go into limp home mode on a trip after i got caught in a rainstorm on the drive in that would have cost me 1000's had it not been under warranty. The entire trip i had to deal with the dealership, then the credit card company because they thought my card was stolen (because i was out of state). Not powertrain but the painted bumpers rust easily, and the badges all start flaking off.

I sold it before it reached 90k miles.

stay away from 2007 and newer ls engines. they have afm/dod i just lot alot of money on a 2007 yukon xl. ended up rebuilding the engine.

i have a 2001 gmc sierra 5.3 ls with 340,000 hard miles. runs strong still. just changed the oem fuel pump a few months ago. i bought it with 104,000 miles. i was pulling a 10,000 lb trailer in 2nd gear up a hill in 2nd for a couple of miles. 4500 rpm. never missed a beat.
