Just picked up an AR-10. So now I’m off to start stocking up on a new caliber.

    I picked up some Magtech 147grain M80.

I want to pick up some more soon. What is everyone’s favorite brand for general usage. For if SHTF or even range use?

Both of my 7.62/308 SLRs really like the 168 gr. OTM from SIG.

I wanted to get some ELDs (the heavy ones, 178 gr.) from Hornady but the school bell ran last year and I ran out of time. My buddy uses this in his .308 SLRs (we have the identical rifles).

I still have piles of M80 (Winchester) and RSA 7.62 but that 168 grainer stuff from SIG groups at less than have of either of those.

I miss the days of finding ZQ1 (Turkish) at Walmart for about 50 cents per round. It was good clean shooting ammo. Not match grade, but certainly more than serviceable. Most of mine is surplus ammo.

I’ve had good results with Australian Outback 168g HPBT Sierra Matchking. Both in shooting as well as finding it in stock from time to time. GlobalOrdnance seems to get it in regularly

I have half a box left of Hornady Steel Match 150 grain that shoots lights out. In my bolt action it shoots crazy accurate. Last time I shot it I shot a 5 round group that had 4 rounds touching, and the 5th was a "flyer." If a flyer that widened the group to .87" is really a flyer, that is. I don't think they make it anymore, but I'm hoping their brass match ammo shoots as well.

I have a super accurate AR10, but I haven't tried it in that yet. The only ammo I've shot out of the AR10 is Federal Match, and it was very accurate.

200 Round Case - 308 Win 168 Grain ELD Match Hornady Superformance Match Ammo - 80963

I just got 200 rounds. I’m ashamed to say how much I had to pay for it. I need to pick up another 600 rounds or so and I’ll be set for a while. I’ve got about 5 different brands to try out.

Bought me a Savage 10FP-SR on a total impulse buy off GB about 3-4 years ago. Was saving up for a Ruger PR G2 but the Savage was listed at over 60% less TMD so I bought it.
Never got around to buying any reloading dies or powders for it and ended up having to use it for deer season in a time compressed pinch so I bought Federal Blue box Power Shock ammo based on very large numbers of internet reviews that 90-95% said it was great both accuracy wise and on deer performance as well. Also didn't hurt it was by FAR the cheapest good quality available OTC at my local Cabela's. Bought 5 boxes each of the 150 and 180 grain

Stuff shot absolutely great in my 10FP-SR. MAO at both 100 and 200 yards. Exceeded it's reputation for accuracy IMHO. Only killed one doe with it at 320 yards even though the doe was DRT I wouldn't say that's 100% conclusive proof of it's on game performance. Left a nice entrance and very nice exit hole.

Was in my favorite LGS about 12-14 months ago I had bought some primers and HG powder & bullets and IMR 3031 for reloading my three 336c's in 35 Remington. I had bought my Savage 308 Winchester 10FP-SR at least 18 months prior. I was shocked to see IMR 4064, 4166 and H/CFE223 in stock as they rarely were during the last almost two years. I actually left the store got to my truck and that nagging feeling of you better just incase over took me and I went back in and bought two powders best suited for 308 Winchester per my research along with Fed GMM LR primers. I truly thank God I did. Luckily found 308 win Redding BOSD, Lee Collet and Forster BR/MM seating die all in stock when I sought to by them not to long ago.
Already had a good supply of 175 SMK and Lapua LRP brass.
Now are trying to decide on a suitable long range rifle scope.

I mainly reload for all my 308 use, but for general plinking in battle rifles military surplus can't beat it. Have bought mag tech in the past but it can be inconsistent i consider it a plinking burn it up ammo myself!

My M40 likes 168gr Federal Gold Match ammo, but for my M21 it likes Hirtenberger 146gr FMJ
