Why do you feel there should be longer sentences for a criminal using a firearm during a crime? Robbing someone with a knife is somehow less of a crime than with a gun?

Excuse my oversight. Using a potentially deadly weapon, whether it be a firearm, a knife, a brick, a bag of pennies or your black belt in karate should get you a longer sentence than for just shoplifting something.
