Every nickel/dime adds up in the end my friend. That tool steel will wear on the MIM piece over the long haul but the reality here is most people will never put more than a few mags a year through those guns if that. I know we are different and actually beat on ours but I know Soooooo many guys that safe queen these as to resale value. Pretty stupid in my eyes and hey.....tough up man.I will put in another vote for the Specialist , as other have said Dan Wesson does not use mim parts at not that much more of an expensive price point. That and this is a personal thing but I HATE the 20LPI checkering on the TRP it's like a cheese grater for my hands.
1911 Vickers Tactical Handguns - Springfield Armory

Side note , why is Springfield Armory so stupid with their 1911's?! The Vickers gun looks great they even put a tool steel hammer in it , but the sear is still MIM. That makes no sense to me at all.
To each their own, but I am with you seems a shame to not enjoy something.Every nickel/dime adds up in the end my friend. If you are interested, looks like Marksman in Westfield just bought several high end used 1911s. I have not stopped by to see (above my pay grade) but there is a Les Baer, Wilson Combat, a couple of Volkmanns and others. No pricing listed but pictures on their FB page.can buy either . what are the quality rating that you guys know about or experienced ? about $200-$ 300 difference with the dan being higher . i know that the wesson does not have any mim parts , but how about the trp ? appreciate the knowledge you have on both guns ..... thanks

edited cause I made a boo boo.
DW is all forged.Fourth gen MIM is getting closer to as good as steel and I have a newer MIM gun that I am testing currently. For the casual gun owner who will not shoot tens of thousands rounds a year the MIM is working fine. Not sure but DW may be a cast frame but CM might know. Springer is forged steel. Again not important to the light duty gun.
