I searched, but didn't find an official one, so I thought I'd start one.

I am an automotive painter by trade, and I now have my own little shop, specializing in custom paint on cars and bikes. After some prompting from a few friends, I recently decided to try my hand at duracoat. I have done 4 guns now. A couple for me and a buddy, (Government work), and a couple for pay!
(Sorry about the crappy cellphone pics!)

I guess dove in head first, because my first one was a fairly complex custom job. It's a Savage Axis in 30/06. This one was for a customer. (Friend of a friend)

Next up, was the stainless slide, off of a Smith Sigma 9mm, for another buddies wife.

Next up, was supposed to be MY AR, but somehow, over beers, I let my buddy talk me into doing his, and letting him replace the Magpul FDE duracoat I bought for MY AR! His ACS WAS black, and I let anal retention get the best of me, because I completely disassembled the stock, to do it right!

Last but not least was MY AR! I duracoated an EOtech clone I had laying around, just because It had been digital camoed, and didn't match anything. I also sprayed a couple of GI mags I had laying around. I traded my buddy 3 black gen 2 Pmags, for 3 FDE gen 2 Pmags, and I really like the contrast to the black lower!

I'm actually glad that I sprayed my buddy's AR first, because it showed me how far off Magpul FDE duracoat is from their actual furniture! I tinted it with a bit of woodland brown, to darken it up a bit, when I sprayed mine. These pics are from like 4 hours after I sprayed it. It has actually darkened up quite a bit, and is pretty close to my furniture now!

    Let's see yours!

You're in love with those grips aren't you?

I did have a theme going for a while there. To be quite honest, looking at the pictures of the RIA now, I think I like it better in the before photo. I might have to redo that one some day. There's a patina that comes from use with parkerized finishes that just does not happen with a painted finish.

I'm with Shooter on the CZ. I'm not much into FDE on most guns, but the shape of your CZ in that color makes it a real looker, I *totally* dig that combination, very nice! Looks like it belongs on a flak vest, ready for duty!

good looking work. im assuming you used a small air brush type painter right?
I actually use a Devillbis SRI-W for most of it. I only use my airbrush for the precise stuff. (Like the black stripes on the zebra pistol, and the camo on the bolt gun at the top.
    Here's my mini HVLP gun

Just curious what did you use to fill your roll marks?
I used evercoat metal glaze, (It's an automotive spot putty) eased in with a razor blade, then sanded level with 320 grit sandpaper. If I were to do it again, I'd have primed it, after I sanded it level, because the spot putty soaked up just a touch of the duracoat, as it dried, and the rollmarks are just barely visible. (Think similar to the depth of like acid etched lettering.) All in all, I'm happy with it though.

Here's the other side, completely clean! I think gun makers put too many logos on their products these days! I bought the gun, I don't need to advertize for em, unless the gun was free!

Holy spray can Paint Man, your work looks great. I really like the work you did on the Rifle/Scope in picture #1. Wish you were closer to Indy I'd have you do my Stey-Manlichter Scout Rifle and Leatherwood Scope.
