A crew walk-off and a live round appears in a prop gun....

There may be more here than at first appears.
Read the article. There had already been 3 NDs on set before they walked off. They also walked off because they were on set 12 to 13 hrs per day and then expected to drive the 50 miles to ABQ because the production company was too cheap to put them up in SAF. They were worried that fatigue might lead to an accident as they were putting in 15 to 16 hr days (50 mile drive both ways plus time on set)

The production company had scabs in place on the set before the pros had even loaded up their equipment

A colleague was so alarmed by the prop gun misfires he sent a text message to the unit production manager. “We’ve now had 3 accidental discharges. This is super unsafe,” according to a copy of the message reviewed by The Times.

    From the story.

No idea about the script, but for dramatic camera closeup shots you would need something looking like a complete cartridge. I've seen movies with slow motion guns chambering rounds, or close ups of revolvers with bullets visible. It won't last on the news as was said earlier.

Seems his lawyers will need to hire a few good writers in order to spin a story together to make him look like the victim and attempt to avoid prosecution. Hope the victim's family will get compensation before his $$$ runs out.

I bet a fair chunk of his money wound up in the "prop guy's" pocket.

Yep. Saw a story where it said he was rehearsing a scene and when shooting the scene he said “like this” or something like that and pulled the trigger. I’m betting it was a scene where it wasn’t a shooting scene, but just a up close shot, and he pulled the trigger on a live gun screwing around.

But honestly, I doubt there’s ever live rounds on set. They did say it’s a low budget film tho, so maybe he was just a dumb ass cheapskate that killed someone because of their carelessness. I have no sympathy for him, he ran every police shooting through the ringer. **** that guy.

But I bet Alec didn’t have any trouble getting his paychecks.

The crew walked off over safety conditions. Was replaced by locals lol.
So many questions here. Too cheap to spring for a hotel less than an hour away? Locals save money.

You don't have to be a member of a union to know live ammo on a movie set is a recipe for disaster, you just have to not be stupid.

I read it. My hypothesis still stands. Disgruntled worker loads a real cartridge. Mayhem ensues.

For those that didn't read the LA Times article that was posted, there had already been three NDs this week:

Three crew members who were present at the Bonanza Creek Ranch set that day said they were particularly concerned about two accidental prop gun discharges on Saturday.
Baldwin's stunt-double accidentally fired two rounds Saturday after being told that the gun was "cold" lingo for a weapon that doesn't have any ammunition, including blanks, one of crew members who witnessed the episode told the Los Angeles Times.

"There should have been an investigation into what happened," said the crew member. "There were no safety meetings. There was no assurance that it wouldn't happen again. All they wanted to do was rush, rush, rush."

A colleague was so alarmed by the prop gun misfires he sent a text message to the unit production manager. "We've now had 3 accidental discharges. This is super unsafe," according to a copy of the message reviewed by the Times.

To the town of New mexico rode a stranger one fine day
Hardly spoke to folks around him, didn't have too much to say
No one dared to ask his business, no one dared to make a slip
For the actor there among them had a big iron on his hip
    Big iron on his hip
It was early in the filming when he rode into the town
He came riding from his trailer slowly lookin' all around
He's an actor loud and whining, came the whisper from each lip
And he's here to do some acting with the big iron on his hip
    Big iron on his hip

Meanwhile, out in the West Texas town of El Paso..
