A bill that would suspend the right to travel outside of the United States is up for a vote in the House. It already passed the Senate 75-22.

    S. 1813 would increase the power of the IRS to suspend passports and deny passport applicants.

Owe The IRS? Bill Would Suspend Passport Rights For Delinquent Taxpayers
A bill authored by a Southland lawmaker that could potentially allow the federal government to prevent any Americans who owe back taxes from traveling outside the U.S. is one step closer to becoming law. Senate Bill 1813 was introduced back in November by Senator Barbara Boxer (D-Los Angeles) to “reauthorize Federal-aid highway and highway safety construction programs, and for other purposes” .

In addition to authorizing appropriations for federal transportation and infrastructure programs, the “Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act” or “MAP-21″ includes a provision that would allow for the “revocation or denial” of a passport for anyone with “certain unpaid taxes” or “tax delinquencies”.

Ron Paul warned that in times of economic hardship, people will want to take their capital and leave the country. A militarized border and draconian travel restrictions could just as easily trap Americans inside the Land of the Free.

Since when do elected officials obey any of the laws that they pass for the rest of the country?

Read and comprehend the entire bill. It's not nearly as draconian as presented in this thread. Actually, it's a good thing that anyone should support.

You must owe $50,000 before you get your pasport suspended.

Hell.. I think everyone should pay their taxes, or you dont get to vote. Unless you dont have a taxable income.

What does that mean? A taxable income?

I was just referring to what the current IRS system is as far as at what point do you pay tax on.. I don't know what that amount is.

ie. your a kid and cut-grass and only make $500 per year.. But I don't know all of the IRS rules... I didn't read the 600+ pages..or what ever the IRS tax code is.
