I think the fairgrounds is hit or miss. I want to the State Fair many moons ago. Parked at the Deaf School and walked quite a ways to a north gate. They wanded me and found that I had a Swiss Army knife. They refused my entry. So I looked at the wife and said they dont want us in their little party and I prepared to leave. The only thing to make me stay that day was my wife offering to take the knife to the car.

While she was gone, I got the reason why I couldn't have my toothpick accompany me to the corn on the cob party. The gate keeper told me that they were having a Country concert TONIGHT. (I didn't get the threat) They said they were having a rap concert TOMORROW night. (I got the threat) They said that the Powers of the Fair needed to give the impression that they viewed all guests as a threat. I wish they would have just profiled me and let me keep my toothpick holder.
