    Dad used 1 of those back in the 80s then switched to the mechanical screw contraption that you had 1 drive wheel on the truck to make it turn. Biggest safety thing for the powder splitters, was to set a piece of wood behind it. Those things were pretty much used for making split rail fence.

    Dad used 1 of those back in the 80s then switched to the mechanical screw contraption that you had 1 drive wheel on the truck to make it turn.
    I sold several of those back in the 80's, got a call one Sunday night from a customer stuck out in the woods -Had a stingy elm log that screwed all the way over his hub of his truck without splitting. Couldn't get the cone off to drive home. Worked great in the right place. not near as fun as the black powder splitter.
