Good Evening Hoosiers, Its my first time ever hunting this season.

I was wondering what ammo I should use for hunting whitetail deer out of my Norinco 7.62x39 SKS.

I am using iron sights, I will be stalk hunting

    Any wisdom would be appreciated

    FMJ is prohibited.

Any good HP will give good results..
By enough to sight in and group. Should hit close to any FMJ round but the deer are worth the time to make sure.

I am not sure if they still make them but when I used an AK I loaded a 5 round mag with hornady black ammo. Never got to see the effects as the deer did not cooperate

How about the 124 gr 8M3 HP which was reintroduced by Tula a few years back. I've carried it a few times hunting but have never had a shot at a deer, so no first hand experience at results.

I used Winchester soft points in my Mak90 my first year hunting the farm in Michigan. Dropped a little buck opening day. Still have 17 left. Bought a .270 for the next season.

Hornady loads an FTX bullet that is popular.

PPU makes a very round nose load that looks like a .30-30. https://www.aimsurplus.com/products/prvi-partizan-ppu-7-62x39-123grn-soft-point-20rd-box
I don't think they make those anymore. I still have about 5 boxes that I got when they were on sale and cheapish. Last I heard they stopped production on them....they did get the job done though!...ohhhh also a side note....they don't feed well in a semi-auto...might be why they stopped making them.
