You gentlemen have me seriously considering. P229…….

My next handgun purchase will either be a P226/MK25, maybe a P229 (I personally don’t think the 229 is smaller enough to bother with over a good 226, though), or a P220. I used to have a 220 and 226 before I had to sell them during a financially tight period, and very much desire to have them again. They’re my second favorite DA/SA after the 92G series (long live Ernest Langdon, lol). A hammer fired Sig w/ short extractor in proper condition is never a poor decision!

For those interested in a Sig P229 .40SW/.357 Sig pistols, back in March '22 there were a bunch of them for sale on Gunbroker.
I don't know how it is there now though.

I knew they're being discontinued, so I bid on multiple ones (P229 DAK in .40SW and .357 Sig) and ended up with a lifetime supply of them as I won more auctions than I anticipated. :)
Some of them are in practically unissued condition!

There were DA/SA versions too, but they tended to bid higher.

But I like the DAK version just fine, as I started out on double action revolvers, then on to Glocks.
The DAK has a better trigger feel than a Glock for me. YMMV

I picked up a couple back then. Both were pre-rail and are fantastic shooters. About this time last year, I picked up an unissued .40 P226 that is in the holster today sporting the .357 Sig barrel.

Find an early short extractor, make sure the frame rails are in good condition, use grease on the rails, and it'll probably outlast you pretty easily.
You can also get the short extractor on the newer ones if you get the "Legacy Slide".
The nearly unissued P229's I got are made in 2017 and have what Sig calls a "Legacy Slide".

Just as the title says…. What is your favorite or preferred handgun chambered in 40S&W. I don’t want to hear how much better 9mm is etc…. Nothin but love for the FOTAY!!! :)
I have 3 Glocks in 40S&W, Models 22, 23 & 35. I retired from Law Enforcement 1 year ago and out of all three, the 23 was the most versatile. I also have a 21 in 45ACP but still load and carry the 23.

All of this G23 love is making me want to take mine out for one last range trip before I decide to sell it. It used to be my favorite EDC but it's only been out 2 or 3 times since getting the first .40 P229 several years back.

You will thank us later :)

    And .... as a seasonal bonus, it's shoulder-holster weather ! :alright:
My favorite firearm in a shoulder rig is the P229, hands down. (perfect balance, with two mags offside)

My 229, presented in a Bianchi rig.

It's actually a nice shooting pistol with an OEM Glock 32 .357 Sig barrel in it shooting hot loads and an OEM Glock 22 round .40SW magazine.
