Off the top of my head average is around $800 per firearm.
My Taurus TX22 would be the lowest in value, but a lot of bang for the buck.

Off the top of my head average is around $800 per firearm.
My Taurus TX22 would be the lowest in value, but a lot of bang for the buck.
My least expensive gun is a Heritage Rough Rider with 16" barrel with fiber optic sights & adjustable rear sights.
I bought it from Zachcz for $200 just to give it a spin b/c I was curious, then intended to sell it as is my habit.
    Grips were the usual too-small
    &
I hate burying my pinky beneath the grip,
    so
I bought nice wood grips for $30 at Robert's Trading Post.
    Total invested: $230.
I think it is a hoot to shoot & an especially good bargain in today's market.
I have so much fun with it b/c it is so accurate that I can't bring myself to sell it yet, haha! :rockwoot:
Everytime I think about selling it & take it to the range for one last trip, & I keep it longer.
I don't even like S/A revolvers since they are so tedious to load & unload,
    but
how do you sell a revolver that you have a blast shooting with the least amount of money held ransom? :dunno:
    5.18.2022 Heritage 16in barrel wLarge grips.jpg

For a non-optic gun, this is the best these eyes & hands can do.

Top row the Heritage with 88% beating out the Tracker & SW 17. ;)

To be honest, I don't have a flippin clue.
I have been retired for 10 years and have put my efforts into my "collection".
Before I retired, I had a small collection that I would go out and shoot, and handle, every couple of months.
Since then, and since I have moved up to Indiana from Fla, my "collection" has turned into an "arsenal" that I play, and tinker with, at least monthly. I have my own 75 yd range on my property, so it's very easy for me to shoot and test reloads.
I have to admit, without over exaggerating or going into to much detail, were the zombie apocalypse to occur, I could supply every member of my family, every neighbor, and a few friends, with guns and ammo to last for quite a while. I have the ability, and the supplies, to make over 1000 rounds each of .223, 6.5 grendel, 6.5 creedmoor, 300 blk, 308, 9mm, 45acp, 45 colt, and 450 bushmaster.
That is addition to what is already on hand.
    Average cost?
Not a clue, but do I have "enough", but I think most would agree that "enough is never enough".

Yeah, I guess I might be considered opposite of most people in their retirement.
But, I planned well, had a nice inheritance from both sides, and decided that preparing for the worst was better than not.
Everything I have is in a trust so it all gets passed down and stays in the family when necessary.

My insurance policy covers six grand worth of guns, but I only covered my most expensive stuff and my cans. There's a lot in my safe that's not covered by my policy so...maybe double that?

I have over 8K posts detailing my fun with the hobby, including pics for hard evidence. :coffee: :ingo:
I confess, I'm guilty, & I also confess going to a public range 1-3 times per week & probably caught
red-handed on camera there. :crying: :dunno:

No one warned me up front how dangerous this hobby could be with the ATF watching & now it's too late.

Hopefully, since the vast majority of my guns are air guns & .22LR guns, I would be fairly boring for the ATF, maybe they'll go after the big boys first, I would think.
Guess I should have bought another convertible instead, a less dangerous hobby.
My other hobby, justified as a work car, since everyone has to have a work car, haha!

There have always been rumors but they won't be the $30K bargain that these sold new for!

I paid the "handsome" price of $18.5K with 9000 miles back in April 2010.
I think I could sell it for that.
I was looking for a $10K w/90-100K miles one, but they always sold in 10 minutes.

S2 wasn't even on my radar.
I had waited for 20 yrs to buy a Miata & a guy who owned or had everything said get the more expensive Honda S2000 & I wouldn't be sorry.
    I'm still smiling. :)

How much we paid, or how much they are worth? I'm thinking of the Director of Civilian Marksmanship Garand I paid $165 for. Probably worth more than that now. But then, I did have to promise the Director that I would never sell it.

$331 average weighed down by an appreciation for the 22lr cartridge and that many of them I've had for a long time. Add in optics and accessories takes them up to an average of $412 paid. I doubt I will ever sell any of these but current estimated values make an average of $473. I have actually never bought a firearm through INGO. Now the ammo is what the wife doesn't need to know about...also traded/bought plenty of ammo through INGO.
