I recently became enthralled with the ATF's Firearms Commerce Annual Statistical Reports. Mostly, because I discovered Indiana was ranked 4th overall in SBS! I quickly realized that LEO registrations were included, considering that SBS weren't even legal in Indiana until July of 2015. I have sorted the data from their reports, and present the following:

Any other Weapon Leaders from 2010-2015:

    Machine Gun Leaders from 2010-2015:

Short Barrel Rifle leaders from 2010 - 2015:

The stat that started it all (it gets better in the next post), Short Barrel Shotgun leaders from 2010 - 2015:

    Destructive Devices Leaders from 2010-2015:

    Suppressor Leaders 2010-2015:

And finally Overall Total NFA ownership from 2010-2015:

Now those numbers are fine and dandy... and plenty to soak in... But then i deiced to grab numbers from the Census Bureau Estimates, and figure out 'per capita' #'s on these NFA items... And here is where it got real interesting in a few categories...

Destructive Devices... Yeah. You read that right. 1 in 5 people own a destructive device in Wyoming. They've had high ownership for some time...

Any Other Weapon: And not surprising, Wyoming wins again! Although this time with less ownership.

DC shows highest ranked per Capita when it comes to Full auto (no real surprise there), though CT & NH stand out a bit...

Short Barrel Rifle... I'm at a loss on the per Capita stats

Short Barrel Shotgun: And Indiana Takes 3rd Per Capita!!! Except, we weren't even allowed to own them until just barely a year ago?!

    And Suppressors:

And lastly, the Final tally (total #'s) per Capita. Albeit, WY took the lead with all of their DD... Interesting to see the other states though:

MY excel file with the conglomerated data is LINKED HERE. Do NOT Edit the tabs labeled RAW. The per capita formulas may get messed up if you sort those sheets. Instead, copy and paste them AS VALUES in another sheet or workbook to sort the data as you see fit.

    Thoughts:
I find it very intriguing that Wyoming has (for quite some time) had an abundance of Destructive Devices... So much so that the stats reflect that nearly 1 in 5 own one. That is just bizarre to me... even if it's entirely LEO.

I'll edit this post as I discover/relay more.
