OWB in front of the strong side hip. All the benefits of a quick draw similar to appendix carry but much more comfortable for those of us with a little extra in the middle. Also generally keeps the business end of the pistol pointed away from the daddy parts and femoral artery.

Only real downside I've found is that it covers the front pants pocket. But I wear pants with rear yoke pockets so I can dress around that.

    Didn't watch the video.

Every carry position has pros and cons, although not in equal measure. Some just suck. Appendix is best for absolute speed of draw, concealment (if done right), and arguably best for retention. It allows access while seated, and while seat-belted. It's the toughest to disguise the draw from and it's the hardest to find what "done right" looks and feels like. It can also be deadly if you have an unintended discharge during holstering or drawing. Personally, I will only appendix carry something with a hammer or other means of trigger control.

So the guy looks like he just graduated from a TapOut t shirt, but I have to agree with his video and he gets major points for taking EWO and doing regular FOF. Is appendix carry superior? I believe definitely so. I also believe it is not for everyone. Just like I don't believe 1911's and snubnose revolvers are for marginally trained shooters. Of course a lot of this is individual context driven. I have carried IWB forward of the hip for almost 15 years until recently. For some reason it is now causing me problems with my hernia mesh repair in the way of PAIN. This is a bummer because AIWB has so many benefits not the least of which shows itself at work when I am leaning inside of a machine and my back is exposed to all. I did just order a Mastermind Tactics Appendix carry pillow to see if it will bring me some relief.

That is one downside. At least for me, no matter what holster I use, my belt has to be tighter to conceal an AIWB than a strong side IWB.

I've been thinking about trying one of these two belts. They're both made out of softer materials around the back and stiffer materials around areas a holster would go. Seems like this would help with back pain I get from stiffer materials around the back on my current belts.

I've not used either of those, but similar concept:

I've got a couple different versions of his, including the one he did in partnership with Craig Douglas (Shivworks), which I think is no longer available. Other than color scheme, it appears very similar to the langdontactical one.

I don't think there is a 100% best fit for most people. The human body varies wildly and there are as many comfortable positions to carry as there are people.

I'm a firm believer that people should carry wherever feels best, because if you aren't comfortable you're more likely to leave it at home, and then it's useless. Appendix may be the "best" tactically, but if you leave your gun at home it doesn't matter.

I have a Mastermind Specialist Pro. It's not overly stiff/thick but it is the same material all the way around the belt. The Langdon and Vdevgru appear to be different...at least based on the descriptions.

I had switched to AIWB carry for a year or so before I took the first Coach/BBI class.

While the speed was there compared to 3:00, hiding the draw was a lot tougher. I switched back to IWB at 3:00. Now that I have put on even more weight in the middle I don't see me going back to AIWB any time soon.

I could not get comfortable with IWB carry no matter what position. May have something to do with my 150lb weight, and the fact that I spend most of my day sitting in an office chair. In the end I settled on pocket carry a small pistol. It is not quick on the draw, but the draw can be easily concealed and look natural.

I concur with the fact that there are pros and cons to each of the different types of carry positions.
Everyone is different so to say that one specific type of carry is 'best' is relative...and not applicable to everyone!
It's what one is most comfortable with, trains with, provides the best form of defense with, etc.
After trying multiple forms of carry - IWB - OWB - Appendix - Cross-draw - Ankle - Pocket - Shoulder, SOB, etc..and a lot depends on one's body type (somatotyping) and physical condition!
I've settled, primarily, on OWB carry in the 3:30-4:00 position on dominant hand side...with a BUG in a pocket or in an ankle holster.
I still utilize a few other carry positions, including pocket carry (pants pocket and jacket/vest pocket) and, occasionally, ankle carry (only in dress-clothes situations.)

I've carrier AIWB for 24 years for off-duty. Never an issue and have thousands of draws in this configuration. But it's not for everyone. Way more upsides for me than negatives.

Sorry just going to say no to that option. For me I have always trained strong side around 15:00 Position. Same spot owb or iwb. Always the same 1911 I don’t switch sidearms, and that has served me well.

Same here. I wouldn’t say ones better or worse. It’s up to if the individual is proficient. We have all seen good and bad examples of both

I've tried AIWB and, issues of deliberately pointing a loaded firearm at my very own personal groin aside, I've found it to be very uncomfortable, even with the micro pistols like the G27, TP9 SC, and CPX-2/3. And since I haven't lately been anywhere I was allowed to draw-and-shoot, I haven't missed the greater efficiency of the AIWB.

I have made the switch from strong side to AIWB recently, and have found that carrying a larger gun is significantly comfortable such as a G34. I have also found a wedge made from a yoga block help a lot with the "Keel Effect."

A lot of folks find longer guns easier to appendix carry. However if it doesn't work for you or you don't like it, there's no reason to force it. Strong side carry is still completely viable and has it's own benefits.
