I haven't seen this posted. Anyone do any competition shooting? Let us know what you like to shoot. If you want to but never have, let us know that too. Maybe you can get some ideas and/or encouragement. Here's what I like to shoot.

    Frequently:
PPC (winter league @ Blythe's in Valpo)
Bullseye (Camp Perry, Camp Atterbury, State & Regional, and local club)
    Rimfire rifle (benchrest)
Rimfire rifle (steel out to 200 meters))
    Cowboy Action
    ICORE

    On Hold Until This Spring:
    Shotgun (clays, trap, skeet)
    Rimfire Challenge

    Not For Several Years:
NRA Action Pistol (think Bianchi Cup)
    IHMSA Silhouette
    USPSA
    Air Pistol

They list shooting events in there. I wanted a discussion. I guess the General Discussion area is not the right place.
It should be for all things competitive shooting. A lot of the people that do that sort of thing are more active in there. You’ll get more hits by those that participate probably in there

    This spot is good, Whip.
I shoot Cowboy Action. Hoping to get back to it more this year. Took a job out of town and took a break from it for a while. I only shot three or four matches last year.
    1873 Winchester, .357.
Two Blackhawks, .44mag or two Vaqueros, .357.
Winchester 1897 or Stoeger double gun, 12 gauge.
Sharps .45-70 and Winchester .38-55 for long range.

I've often thought about getting started with it but have never had time or dollars to play around with some of those extra activities!

As a side note, even if your not into competitive shooting, during the 3 weeks of high power (board week, trophy week & long distance) at the National Matches (Camp Perry) vendor row is a treat to go shopping at, plus the CMP store & try out the world class airgun range.

As a side note if you want to shoot the national matches but, aren't sure about pit duty/knowing what you're doing ....
    A) try rimfire sporter, this is a no fancy target rifle match (& the AMU runs a live fire clinic on how to shoot the match) this match is a hoot!!
    B) the AMU puts on a small arms firing school (high power clinic) & EIC match

During pistol week, the vendors are great too. The airgun range is worth the trip. Rent air pistols and/or rifles and shoot for cheap. Lots of scenarios to choose from.

I couldn't make it to Atterbury last year; I tested + for covid the day before I was to head down there. We did go to Perry for the vendors though. They were a little sparse compared to previous years. Hopefully, that picks up.

I used to shoot the Governor's 20 match in the Guard, went to the Wilson Matches down in Little Rock one year, then went back down there for air rifle. I shot GSSF for several years, some steel matches and a little IDPA. I miss shooting that stuff, but just gradually got away from it.

You have the gear. Borrow a shotgun if you need to. My 1st cowboy match, 26 years ago, I could only find one Vaquero and a Marlin Cowboy lever action rifle before I started shooting cowboy. I borrowed a 2nd revolver and a shotgun. Shooters are the best group of people, especially the cowboys. Maybe that can help you find your way again.

Shooting, even in competitions, is great and it's more than just the shooting. It's the comradery. We go out to lunch after the match and talk. Some of us travel together. It’s a great hobby and a great way to relax and unwind.
