Built out a fishing kayak and have been out on a few state reservoir and lakes fishing which is all good and well, but I would like to learn more about places to put in and out on rivers around central indiana to also fish. Cant find any good guides or documents that includes public ramps on the rivers, seems to still be everyone's little secret who known them.

IDNR maintains a list of all public dnr maintained boat access sites. Just have to look around for it. They change the web site about twice a week, but it is there. Luck. Call some bait shops where you want to fish ask’em.

Any blue line on a map with a bridge over it can be put in/take out. I used to carry a Delorme Gazetteer for Indiana, but that's now been replaced by Google Earth. Just about every sizable stream or river in the state has smallmouth or spots and largemouth. The less channelized and the more winding, the better.

They used to sell a map in most fishing stores that broke down Indiana into the counties and listed all public and many private ramps and access places. I have one and have used it for years.

Well look at that, I found this interactive map. It seems to include not just IDNR ramps but also town/county maps as well. It still doesn't look to be all inclusive but its a step.

And gar, don’t forget gar. Lots of gar in deer creek!
