Come on guys. . . Do we really need 3 threads on the first page about "No one has ammo", "Where can I find "XX" caliber ammo". Most places (including Walmart) have no problem if you call them before you drive over. Try taking the time to call around before posting another one of these pointless morale killing threads. . . . . Every gun owner in America probably knows that ammo is low right now, we don't have to be like the news and make things appear worse than what they are. Trust me you CAN get ammo if you need it, either two things will happen,

    A. You will pay the price for it (Either a stupid idiot on a gun forum who thinks ammo is better than gold), or an outrageously high priced shop like Gander:noway: who think they are funny because us gun owners are being ridiculous and actually buying it from them!

    B. You can wait a few days before someone gets it in stock.

Please, nothing personal to anyone, but we are crowding up the front page of this section with bad morale and negativity.

Oh My God! You are so right! Now I hate myself. Just kidding. But, I had to bitch to someone that would listen.

But, out of curiosity, I understand from my Economics classes that prices go up when demand is high and/or supply is low. I understand that there is a demand issue due to the current political climate and concerns over possible laws regarding gun and ammo purchases and restrictions.

However, is the supply low because of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan?

I remember seeing an article a couple years ago outlining that issue. Does it still hold?

You might want to take some more Econ classes. Supply being low OR high demand can create the price spike. Our supply is the same or possibly slightly greater, but the demand has gone atmospherically high, so much so that it seems that supply is very low. This is affecting all calibers as people buy up .45 and drive the price up, they buy 9mm and drive that price even higher and eventually .22lr is high.

*shrug* I actually like the threads. They can always be deleted after a day or so (ammo will be gone by then), and they help fellow INGO members.

All of these statements are true. I especially agree with the one about supply being even higher. If anyone really thinks that supply is low right now, you are completely wrong. The supply is in fact greater than what it was many months ago. Hornady is a customer of my company and I know for a fact that they are at max production (simply being limited by their resources).

So its ok to take and post pictures of ammo that you have (ammo porn?) but its not ok to pass along information to our fellow shooters about ammo that we have found in real time (say 1/2 to 1 hour)...:n00b:

I don't necessarily mind the "XX has XX ammo" so much as I do with the rants and complaints about no one having ammo in stock. I do like the suggestion about closing a thread if the store is in fact out of ammo. As a side note, Wal-mart had 30 boxes of Federal .22lr 550 bulk this morning at 6:15am when I was there. I don't expect it to be there very long however.

I like them, too. Someone had posted on here about a Wal-Mart, and while they didn't have MUCH left, I did get a few boxes of 9MM.

Just as you can wait for a few days, you can find out who has it here - and call. Sometimes you get lucky and someone will hold it for you.

I agree the threads could certainly be closed oce they become useless...

No thanks. I don't wish to take ECON again. But, my assertion was correct that lack of supply and/or high demand can drive up prices. Now, I understand that their is a high demand right now. But, my question was as to whether or not the supply was low as well, due to the wars. This question was based on an article I had read 18 to 24 months ago.

Based on your answer and those of other repliers, the supply is not actually low and it is the demand that is driving the prices up. Thank you for your responses.

By the way. ECON 210 sucks. I hated it. We started with 60 people in the class and by the end of the semester, we had 32. Somehow I got a B. But, I will never take it again. Unless, I had to choose between ECON and STATS, then I would.

+1, because of them I've been able to snag some ammo recently as well as help some others snag some. I say keep them coming. INGO helping INGO out, nothing wrong with that.

Postings about online sales though is useless. That stuff goes faster than free happy endings at the local message parlor next to the truck stop.
