Yeah, that trigger is crazy heavy. I could not resist googling "first polymer gun" I figured I would burst a Glock lovers bubble with that one!

I don't think he said that Glock was the first, just that they perfected it.

Glad the OP found something out there he likes. The M&P is about the most Glock-like non-Glock out there and for a terrific option for those that either will not or can not come to bring themselves to own a Glock. I've owned several and they are great to shoot, carry and compete with. If I weren't using a Glock I'd be using an M&P.

I'm fairly new to the polymer gun world. Except for a P22 bought back in 2009, my first poly gun was a Glock 20sf bought last December. One of my favorite carry guns is now a Glock 23. I've been happy with 1911s in .45, Glocks in .40/10mm and CZs in 9mm. But, I have toyed with picking up a high cap .45 and if I do, I'll have to take a serious look at the M&P. The only others I've considered are the SAR K2 and Glock 21. Both because they are familiar to me.

Glocks are excellent guns. They are on my "to get" list just quite a ways down. I actually own a polymer frame handgun, just not a Glock or M&P. I think either one would make an excellent home defense and carry weapon.

I love my Glocks, but there are alot of great guns out there. I own several others beside my Glocks, and enjoy them all. When it comes to EDC, its my Glock 26.

Get the best of both worlds. Get a STI 2011, for me it has the best double stack polymer frame grip out there and is a 1911 in operation. My 10mm has 21 rounds in the mags and shoots soft. As I have used the 1911 platform since Dec. 1968 I didn't have to learn another carry option!

'Work towards what you want, afford what you can, appreciate and feed the needs, but LOVE what you have' - INGO's Henry Wallace.

Shot a Glock, and a SW but not an M&P. Looking at getting an M&P 9 interchangeable to 40 for Mrs. Wallace. I keep hearing great things.

Just remember to buy the 40. You can change from 40 to 9 but not from 9 to 40. Just posting in case you didn't know.
