A big thank you to INGO family

October 9th I fell and broke my left leg and my right wrist, since then I have been at home driving my wife crazy.
To my rescue came some great INGO people who made it possible for me to shoot yesterday out to 400 yards. I had a fantastic time! I really want to say thank you to everyone that was there with an extra thanks to lovemywoods for picking me up at my house and taking me to the shoot and back. It was too funny when he asked my wife if it was ok to take me and she said very sternly, "Yes, he needs to go, just get him out of here!". Another huge thank you to Rayne, who kept me from hurting myself, spoiled me rotten, and made me feel extremely comfortable when I know I was alot of extra work for her.
Everyone was great and I feel a little more sane today, thank you!
Ringing steel at 400 yards with a 10" barreled AR is great medicine!

AAR – Nov 10th Distance Shoot

Sometimes we don’t realize the Blessings we have right in front of ourselves. I take it for granted I can go out my back door anytime I want to shoot and I have the ability to shoot long distances too. Having made some wonderful friends on INGO I wanted to share the opportunity to shoot some distances with them. We couldn’t have ordered weather that would have been better, warm, and sunny with a breeze at our backs.

We started out at 100 yards to make sure everyone was on paper and then we moved back at increments of 100 yards. We used a trailer to shoot from plus a couple of shooting benches. It was a bit of a hassle moving everything, but it was better than moving the targets. Once we got to 300 yards we mostly shoot at just the steel targets. The sound of boom and then a few seconds later bing is a wonderful thing. It makes me look like this :D .

I had the opportunity to shoot a 300 WinMag, a Savage 308 with a silly sweet trigger on it and a M16 with a 10 ½ barrel and an Aimpoint red dot on it. OBV8’s WinMag is smooth as silk. It had no trouble at all reaching out and touching 4 inch steel at 400 yards. Que’s 308 is a beast. I rang 4” steel at 400 yards with it too, but after the first shoot I flinched anticipating the recoil for the next few shots, until I realized what I was doing. The highlight of my day was ringing 4” steel at 400 yards with the M16 and red dot. The dot was bigger than the target and when I got around to shooting the 4” steel had been hit multiple times and was very difficult to see. I was also thrilled for Suprtek and his son. They both rang steel at 400 yards using iron sights on a Mosin. :D

To finish up our shooting for the day, we moved back up to the 100 yard line and placed a row of pumpkins in front of the targets. A couple of the men folk placed some H2 in a few of the pumpkins :D Someone has some video of it, so I hope they post it. I was too busy shooting some really cool guns to take many pictures.

I was perfectly happy sitting on the trailer shooting my new 10/22 with tech sights, plinking away at steel, but jrainw had other ideas. He convinced me that he had magazines loaded that needed to be shot. Ok, it didn’t take much convincing to shoot the M16 again. This time though he told me I had the safety in the wrong position. :dunno: When I pulled the trigger instead of bang, it went bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang. In the blink of an eye, I had shot my first fully automatic weapon. When I turned around and saw 3 cameras on me I realized I had been set up. Thanks fellas, I like that kind of set up. Everyone needs friends like you guys.

Sadly the sun was setting and it was time to call the final cease fire. Everyone was very safe and respectful of those around them all day and it was a pleasure hosting such a good group of people.

We all came to the house and enjoyed a nice meal together and finished the night off by sitting around a bonfire. I’m not sure I could think of anything that would have made the day better.

I really want to thank LoveMyWoods, he brought so many steel targets. I know it took him days to round them all up from around his place. OBV8 also help me with coordinating a lot of the targets and target stands. Shadow brought all the target backers and saved us from having to use my good plywood. I really appreciate everyone’s help. I couldn’t have pulled this off without everyone pitching in. I especially want to thank my hubby for helping me get the place ready and trusting me, that these INGO members, from the internet, aren’t crazy gun people who will go wild when turned loose in the wide open space of our farm. :lmfao:

I'll get what few pictures I have up tomorrow.
