Here is the Victory with an Ultradot "borrowed" from one of my Mark II Rugers. Fired a few shots last weekend to get the feel of it using open sights. Showed me I need a new prescription! I should be able to see what it can really do with the Ultradot this weekend. Was great meeting you in person and I'll post the range results probably Sunday.

Smith Victory bought from doddg showed much potential for a great target shooting 22. A little trigger work might come later. But for the first real range session I'm really pleased! Here is results at 25 and 50 yards with CCI Std. Vel. and Aguila SE std. vel.

Glad to see you are enjoying it!
I love buying a gun, then passing it on to someone I am familiar with on the boards here! :ingo:
I'm amazed at your 25 & 50 yds shooting. :wow:
And, with a pistol not a rifle!
I shoot only at 10 yds so I can get my rounds inside a 1.75" circle, haha! :laugh6:
W/O an optic, I can shoot only 7 yrds since I can't see the bullseye even at 30' if I want to see my sights. :dunno:
    I'm such the amateur! :draw:
    What makes someone an amateur?
    1. a person who engages in some art, science, sport, etc. for the pleasure of it rather than for money; a nonprofessional
    2. a person who does something without professional skill. :lmfao:

But, I have so much fun with my routines & note-taking.
I get to apply my professional teaching skills of 5 different decades (1975-2019) to my amateur hobby, haha! :coffee:

Really glad I bought it , you took very good care of it - cleaner than some new guns I've bought! The Ultradot really helps me to be able to shoot at longer distances.

I really had an enjoyable range session with the Victory! My bullseye shooter friend would probably say I'm cheating as I shoot two handed. I did shoot in pistol leagues where one handed shooting was required years ago. I am looking forward to testing out the Victory with more brands of ammo.

As long as you are enjoying shooting that's all that matters. I think most of us are basically amateurs! ;)

It was an absolutely gorgeous day today, I had some free time this afternoon, and about 400 rounds left of a bucket of Remington Golden Bullets that I bought back during the recent unpleasantess when I could find absolutely nothing else. It's horrible stuff, and I decided it needed burned up. I took my Glenfield Model 70 and two revolvers. I spent about an hour practicing unsupported position shooting (standing/sitting/kneeling) with the Marlin, then got down to business with the wheelguns.

I shot them both on steel for a while at 40 yards, then decided to see how they'd compare on paper. These were all shot standing unsupported at 7 yards. The black circles are 1.5", the white outer ring is just under 1.75". Sinlge-Six targets are on the left, I started at the top and worked my way down. The S&W targets are on the right, also starting at the top and working down. I shot the center target at the beginning with both guns to confirm point of impact.

Overall, I feel like I was able to tighten it up as I went, but still couldn't overcome the fliers (Target 9 was going great until I got bit by a mosquite right as I was breaking shot #5...no excuse for shot #6 though). The first target with the Smith, in particular, was pretty bad, and one of theose rounds looked like it didn't stabilize and keyholed off to the right...not totaly unexpected with this garbage-tier ammo, but that was the only one that did that. The longer sight radius on the Ruger definitely helped, but the trigger on the Smith was a little better (I shot it in single-action for the comparison).

Fun day at the range :).

Shooting three 9mm today at the range with two belonging to a friend:
    - Glock 34
    - Beretta 92 Compact.

For dessert, I took my SW 422 22LR with 6" barrel & put rounds through it.

Used CCI SV at 21' on a rest.
A 16th of an inch more than 1.25" was the biege part of the circles.
Fixed sights so POI was left & low as you can see in my practice targets on the top row.
Finally figured it out on the 4th circle.
Couldn't keep it consistent, but at least I improved a bit each row.

I bought a new Bersa Thunder .22LR pistol.
It is my 3rd new one I've bought. :dunno:
All metal frame & slide with accompanying metal magazines, 3" barrel with a hammer: my idea of a perfect gun, haha! :rockwoot:
This is a small 3"barrel, 290 plus tax.
I've had some terrific Bersa pistols in 9mm in the past, as well.

I put 355 rounds through it today using 5 different brands of ammo.
All HV, 40 grain, solid copper with one lead round nose, except for Armscor which was 36 grain HP.

I cleaned the Bersa with Ballistol before taking it to the range since I've learned that new doesn't mean range-ready.

I had 7 stovepipes, even though the next round inserted into chamber.
The first few mags had 6 rounds that I had to pull the trigger twice to fire, which I think was ammo related, since I was getting good strikes.

Really enjoyed it & like other small .22LR I've had, it shoots great at 15' with 21' being very average.
It has a windage screw, which I had to use since POI was to the right.
It shoots a little low, some ammo more than others.
I would file the front sight down but there is a white dot on it.
Don't know if front sight can be replaced, maybe if there's a screw underneath the slide???
Would love to have a red fiber optic on it.
I usually paint the front sight red, but I hate to do that with a white dot on it.

I had to learn to aim a little high also.

I like the look of Bersa's they just don't fit my arthritic hand any more. Nice report, Thanks.
That's where I'm headed with my arthritis. :oldwise:
I had a flare-up in my right hand Wednesday (7.06) & I couldn't use my hand to do even simple things & was in pain for days.
Fortunately, it starting getting better by Monday & now almost back to it's usual discomfort. :fogey:
Doctor is going to test for a higher uric acid level for gout, which I guess is arthritis with an attitude. :(

Shooting isn't affected yet, only picking up small or thin objects.
Looking forward to going back to try out other brands of ammo.

Bersa cleaned with Ballistol before taking to the range when new.
Can't wait to put more brands of ammo through it to find its limitations.
If it can handle the hollow point Remington Golden Bullets, that will be a good sign it's not going to be finicky.
After trying all the HV I have to find any weakness, I'll see if the CCI SV will not cycle.
Manual says to only use HV to cycle properly.

Took the Bersa out for another whirl after cleaning it again.
    I like it.

    2" circles at only 15'.
    4 brands of ammo.

1st row: Remington HV & HP Golden Bullets 84% (not used 1st time out).
    2nd row: Federal AutoMatch 100%
    3rd row: CCI Mini-Mags 80%
4th row: CCI SV 85% (not cycle 6/19 rds).
Note: Not supposed to use anything but HV, but I had to put it to the test, haha!

Finally bought a used Taurus TX.

This is the 5th one I've shot.
I was having trouble getting the rear sights to hold their adjustment.
Upon doing some research, this is an acknowledged problem & complaint.
Taurus is sending a new rear sight.

7.20.2022 pic of TX at range.jpg

21' on 3.75" circles before any adjustments except the last 4-5 rounds on the right hand side of circle where I was trying to bring the group over to the right a little, but I adjusted too much.
    Using CCI Mini-Mags.
    7.20.2022 1st shots at 3.75 in circles before adjusting.jpg

Cherry-picked from several 2" circles trying to get adjusted at 21'.
    Using CCI Mini-Mags.
7.20.2022 Range on 2 in circle after some adjustment.jpg

Took 14 of these 1.75" circles to get this cherry-picked one.
Then it started POI going to the right again.
    Using CCI Mini-Mags.
    Cherry picked from 16 circles.jpg

    4 different brands of ammo.
Having trouble with my rear sight adjustments & have another rear sight coming.
    Row 1 & 2 Federal Automatch.
Row 3 Remington Golden Bullets (36 grain, HP)
Row 4 split between more Golden Bullets & CCI Blazer.

Are you blaming the gun when it’s you just closing your eyes while shooting?
You mean closing your eyes after you've lined up your sights on the target right before you pull the trigger is a problem?
I read on the Internet where you needed to do that to keep lead from getting into your eyes. :lmfao:

Thanks, you've just given me another excuse to add to my arsenal when a gun doesn't shoot to POA:
    - closing eyes
    - ammo
    - wind
    - gun
    - sights

My kids just joined the fun last week with some safety classes and range time with their new Henry Lever Action Standard, and a rental TX22. We’ve got buckets full of range ammo so I imagine we’ll be fitting more range time into the busy schedule. They had a great time, and surprisingly good results for their first time behind anything not made by Daisy. Although my daughter prefers firing the handgun, her groups with the Henry were impressively tight at all distances. The boy was good too, but the instructor gave me “that look” over the top of his glasses when we were inspecting her targets.

Looks like we’ll be adding another sport to their list.

Took a new never-shot Taurus TX belonging to Zachcz
    &
the used one I bought Monday from another friend
    &
shot 2 days ago that I had issues with the rear sights (common problem).
My shots were all over the place trying for POI to be consistent with POA, but couldn't do it.
Today I didn't touch my sights at all
    &
I didn't dare move Zack's TX rear sights in case I ran into the same POI "traveling," but his didn't need adjustment anyway.
I view the TX rear sights as NON-ADJUSTABLE or "good luck" trying to adjust, haha!

    Neither gun had a malfunction.
    I put 135 rds through Zack's & 185 rds through mine today.
I put 245 rds through yesterday on mine
    &
had a problem 2-3 times with the 2nd round not loading, but I assume that was me since today I was more careful & had no issue at all.

    Zack's 1st mag on 3.75" circles at 22' using CCI Mini-Mags.
    10 rds, 5 rds & 1 rd from the 1st mag.
    7.22.2022 ONLY Zack's 1st mag 3.75 in.jpg

Still shooting CCI Mini-Mags using 2" circles at 21'.
    22/25 rds inside circles = 88%
7.22.2022 Range 2 in circles CCI MM 88%.jpg

My standard test: 1.75" circles at 21' for non-optic .22LR.
1st circle had me excited thinking they were all going to do that, but no.
    I have to remember it's a $300 gun.
    My Bersa 22LR, a $300 gun, I have to use at 15', b/c it's groups aren't as good at 21'.
I used 4 different brands of ammo.
As long as a gun will do 90% consistently, it's a keeper.
The Rem. Golden Bullets are OK for plinking but it couldn't quite keep up with the other brands: close, though.
I was pleased with this & the gun functions as Zack claimed his in the past have.
    7.22.2022 1.75 in circles x4 brands ammo.jpg

    My TX
1st circle is yesterday before I adjusted anything.
I should have left it alone since I spent the day chasing after the POI.
Today, w/o any adjustments I finished the 1st row & shot the 2nd row to see how it would hold together in consistency.
I didn't dare touch the rear sights b/c it was "close" at least.
    7.22.2022 Range 3.75 in Mine & Zack's.jpg

    My TX
I put 15 rounds using 8 brands of ammo to see where POI.
    No adjustments made.
Ignore circle 1 (different gun on different day).
    3.75" circles at 21'.
CCI Blazer has never let me down & was the best group at 1".
    7.22.2022 Range 3.75 in 15 rds 8 brands ammo.jpg

    1.75" circles at 21'.
CCI Blazer & Federal AutoMatch did well.
    Rem. GB sucked.

Had one last round of fun with the Heritage Rough Rider 16" barrel before I sell it.
When I bought from a friend, I knew I wouldn't keep it, but did so longer than I expected since it was so much fun to shoot.
Except I really hate the slow loading & unloading one round at a time of a Single-Action. :lmfao:

Bought another Taurus TX since it had a front red optic I just had to have & other accessories.
